Kent State Captures 20th Consecutive MAC Golf Title
Final Results
NAPERVILLE, Ill -- The Golden Flashes finish off their impressive 2018 season with a 20th consecutive Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship, after three days of competition at Naperville Country Club. Kent State shot a MAC Championship record 54-hole score of -11 (853), including an 286 in the final round. Toledo finished second in the competition with a total score of 910, followed by Northern Illinois with a score of 923.
Kent State's Pimnipa Panthong remained atop the leaderboard following the three-day competition, shooting -3 in the final round to finish the tournament with a MAC Championship Record score of -8 (208).
After an almost unanimous vote by the coaches of all 10 respective teams, Panthong was also named the 2018 MAC Freshman and Golfer of the Year, as well as a First Team All-MAC selection. She is joined on the first team by teammates Michaela Finn and Karoline Stormo. Pinyada Kuvanun of Toledo and Akron's Jacinta Pikunas round out the first team.
The All-MAC Second Team is composed of Saranlak Tumfong of Toledo, Danielle Nicholson from Akron, Kent State's Kory Nielsen, Brielle Ward from Northern Illinois, and Julia Champion of Western Michigan.
The 2018 Sportswoman of the Year was awarded to Lily Pendy of Ohio for her positive rapport with competitors and fellow teammates throughout the year.
