AKRON, Ohio – Redshirt junior Kimberly Rodriguez (Las Vegas, Nevada) launched a towering two-run home run to left field in game two in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was not enough to complete the comeback effort as Bowling Green dropped Akron, 5-1 and 7-5, on Saturday afternoon at Lee R. Jackson Field. The twinbill on Saturday completed the three-game series between the Zips and Falcons. Despite an attempt at late game heroics in all three contests, Bowling Green completed the three-game sweep over Akron.

MUNCIE, Ind.- - It was a great ending to the 2018 home season, as the Ball State softball team celebrated senior day with a pair of 2-1 wins over Central Michigan Saturday afternoon in Mid-American Conference action at the Softball Field at First Merchants Ballpark Complex. In snapping a six-game losing streak to the Chippewas (19-20; 9-8 MAC), the Cardinals improved to 29-16 overall and moved to 11-6 in league play.

KENT, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team (15-26, 6-11 MAC) dropped both ends of a Saturday doubleheader against the Kent State Golden Flashes on the road. The Flashes handed Buffalo the 10-2 loss in the first game and the 13-1 defeat in game two. Catrell Robertson closed out her day with her first two home runs of the season in the defeats.

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State took advantage of Central Michigan miscues in the opener and made the most of its four hits in the nightcap on Saturday in sweeping the Chippewas in a Mid-American Conference softball doubleheader at the Cardinals' BSU Softball Complex. Both games ended 2-1 as the Cardinals took the series, two games to one. CMU won Friday's opener, also by a 2-1 count.

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University softball team was swept in Mid-American Conference action against Northern Illinois University Saturday, April 21, at Varsity Field. The Eagles (9-32, 5-12 MAC) were run-ruled in six innings in the first game, 9-1, before the Huskies (17-26, 8-8 MAC) came from behind to top EMU, 4-3, in the night cap.

KENT, Ohio – Kent State (23-19, 9-8 MAC) received an 11-run inning in the second game Saturday's doubleheader in a series sweep over Buffalo (15-26, 6-11 MAC) at the Diamond at Dix. The Golden Flashes won both games in five innings, 10-2, and, 13-1. Kent State outscored the Bulls 33-3 on the weekend and pushed above the .500 mark in conference play. Holly Speershad a huge day at the plate, clubbing three homers.

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University softball team split its doubleheader with Ohio on Saturday to close the 2018 home schedule. The RedHawks were edged out 1-0 in the first game in the 11th inning. In the second game, Miami beat Ohio 5-3 in 12 innings. The RedHawks move to 20-21 on the season and 7-10 in MAC play. Miami handed Ohio only its second conference loss this season.

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Northern Illinois University softball team completed its weekend sweep of Eastern Michigan taking the doubleheader over the Eagles at Varsity Field on Saturday. The Huskies (17-26 8-8) defeated EMU, 9-1, in the first game, while coming back from two runs down to win the night cap, 4-3. This is the second Mid-American Conference sweep for the Huskies this season and the first since sweeping Buffalo at Mary. M. Bell Field on March 30-31.

OXFORD, Ohio –The Ohio softball team (28-14, 15-2 MAC) continued Mid-American Conference play, splitting a marathon doubleheader with Miami (20-21, 7-10 MAC) on Saturday at the Miami Softball Stadium. The Bobcats won the first game of the doubleheader, 1-0 in 11 innings and then dropped the second game of the twin bill, 5-3 in the 12thinnings. With the win, the Bobcats won the season series with the RedHawks.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Freshman Bailey Curry tied Toledo's single-season home run record, and the Rockets defeated Western Michigan by scores of 3-0 and 8-3 on Saturday at Ebert Field. Toledo (30-15, 14-3 MAC) now has won each of its six Mid-American Conference series after falling in 14 innings in Friday's series opener. The two victories also lifted UT to the 30-win mark for the first time since 1995.
