MAC ANNOUNCES 2018 ACADEMIC ALL-MAC WRESTLING TEAM
Thirty-Nine MAC students honored as the 2018 Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team
 
Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2018 Academic All-MAC Wrestling team today as 39 students were named to the team.  
 
Highlighting the 2018 Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team are four-time Academic All-MAC selection senior Chance Driscoll (2015-18) and senior Stephen Suglio (2015-18) both from Kent State.
 
In addition, three-time Academic All-MAC honors were earned by Eastern Michigan’s Derek Hillman and Kyle Springer, along with Kent State’s Devin Nye and Anthony Tutolo and Missouri's Willie Miklus. There were also 12 additional MAC wrestlers that were honored for the second time in their wrestling careers.
 
Kent State led the way with nine wrestlers (Dylan Barreiro, Isaac Bast, Kyle Conel, Chance Driscoll, Nick Monico, Devin Nye, Tim Rooney, Stephen Suglio and Anthony Tutolo) named to the Academic All-MAC Team. 
 
Central Michigan had six honorees (Jordan Atienza, CJ Brucki, Drew Hildebrandt, Blake Montrie, Dresden Simon and Mason Smith), while Eastern Michigan (Zac Carson, Noah Gonser, Derek Hillman, Kayne MacCallum and Kyle Springer) had five named to the Academic All-MAC Team.
 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics.  To qualify, a student must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for a particular sport.  First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.  Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season are only considered.
