Glenfield and MacCallum Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week
Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 26th – March 5th
Western Michigan's Kaylen Glenfield, Softball (Sophomore, Pre-Business, 3.96)
The Western Michigan softball team was led by sophomore Kaylen Glenfield in its five games of the USF Under Armour Tournament this past weekend in Clearwater, Fla. The outfielder made five starts and led the team with a .385 batting average, going 5-for-13 with two doubles and three RBI. She connected on a season-high two hits against Wisconsin and the University of South Florida and continues to lead the team with a .367 batting average through 16 games.
Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 26h – March 5th
Eastern Michigan's Kayne MacCallum, Wrestling (Junior, Finance, 3.46)
Redshirt junior wrestler Kayne MacCallum took home the 184 lbs. title at the 2018 MAC Wrestling Championships Sunday, March 4. It was the first individual title for the Eagles since 2009. MacCallum went 3-0 over the two-day span of the tournament as the No. 3 seed. He began the tournament with a 3-1 win, followed by a sudden victory triumph over No. 2 seeded Jordan Ellingwood of CMU to reach the finals. There, he dominated No. 4 seeded Bryce Gorman of NIU in an 8-2 decision to take the crown.
