AKRON, Ohio – The Toledo Rockets completed the three-game sweep over the Akron softball team at Lee Jackson Field following a 6-1 win against the Zips on the second day of a three-game set to open the 2018 Mid-American Conference season. Early offense by the Rockets coupled with two insurance runs late in the contest added up to the 6-1 win over Akron.

KENT, Ohio – Kent State (14-10, 2-1 MAC) fell in the series finale to the Western Michigan Broncos (14-13, 1-2 MAC), 12. The Broncos banged out 17 hits in their run-rule victory, the most KSU has allowed this season. Kent State was limited to six hits and stranded 10 runners on base.

AKRON, Ohio - Freshman Bailey Curry hit her team-leading eighth home run and junior Kailey Minarchick tossed five shutout innings as the Rockets defeated Akron, 6-1, to complete a three-game sweep at Lee R. Jackson Field. With the win, the Rockets move to 17-12 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-American Conference, while Akron falls to 1-23-1 on the year and 0-3 to start the MAC season.

KENT, Ohio- The Western Michigan softball team had a season-high 17 hits in a 12-1, six-inning victory over Kent State Sunday. WMU scored in every inning but the first. With the win, the Broncos improved their record to 14-13 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-American Conference. Freshman Sydney Stefanick went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and drove in a pair of runs. She hit her first career home run with a solo blast to left field in the sixth. Stefanick also picked up the win in the pitcher's circle, striking out four and allowing just one run over six innings.
