AKRON, Ohio – Saturday, March 24, marked the start of the 2018 Mid-American Conference season for the Akron softball team and the 2018 home opener, but after taking an early 3-1 lead, late offense by Toledo earned the Rockets a 13-5 game one win and a 15-1 win in game two over Akron as the UT offensive momentum carried over in the twinbill at Lee Jackson Field. Errors were the big story on the day for Akron recording six on the afternoon combined between the two games which led to six unearned runs.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - On a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, the Ball State softball team used two home runs and seven RBIs from senior second baseman Maddy Labrador to power its way to a 12-0 (5) victory over Bowling Green in Mid-American Conference play at Meserve Field. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 20-10 on the year and opened league play with a 2-1 series victory over the Falcons (17-12; 1-2 MAC).

Ball State University homered three times en route to a 12-0 win over the Bowling Green State University softball team on Saturday afternoon (March 24). The Mid-American Conference game was held at a windy Meserve Field. Janae Hogg gave BSU (20-10, 2-1 MAC) the lead with a long home run in the first inning, and Maddy Labrador homered twice later in the game for the Cardinals.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team (11-14, 3-0 MAC) completed a MAC-opening weekend sweep of the Eastern Michigan Eagles this Saturday afternoon with a 6-4 win in the first game and an 8-0 shutout in the finale. This is just the second time in program history that the Bulls swept a conference opening series.

KENT, Ohio – Kent State (14-9, 2-0 MAC) got off to a hot start in Mid-American Conference play, downing Western Michigan (13-13, 0-2 MAC) twice on Saturday at the Diamond at Dix. Down by five entering the sixth inning of game one, the Golden Flashes rallied to force extra innings and defeated the Broncos in nine frames, 8-7. Kent State won in walk-off fashion on a ball that Bailey Brownfield hit to right that was dropped to score Emily Dobbin for the game-winning run. It's the third time Kent State has walked off this season.
