Loyola Intercollegiate
Tyler Lewis powered the Eagles to a tie for fourth-place at the Loyola Intercollegiate today, Feb. 26, on the par 72 Palm Valley Golf Club course. Lewis tied for the runner-up spot at the tournament, carding a three-round 16-under par total of 200 (66-70-64), breaking the previous record of 203, accomplished just last year at the same event by Kyle Rodes. The Ortonville, Mich. native was brilliant in his final round, enduring no bogeys on the day. He posted a six-under 30 on the back nine and added two more birdies on the front nine. The 64 tied is tied for the lowest score in the storied history of the EMU golf program. Overall, he is just the fifth Eagle to notch a 64, joining Korey Mahoney, Cam Burke, Nic Ross, and Kyle Rodes in the exclusive category. EMU finished in a three-way tie for fourth with Gonzaga and host Loyola (Md.), as the College of Charleston rolled to the team title with a 48-under par total of 816 (270-276-270). Eastern finished the tournament at 28-under 836 (280-284-272) to break the program's 18-hole standard of 273 established at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Oct. 18, 2010, along with shattering the three round record of 841(275-277-289) set earlier this season at the EKU Intercollegiate, Sept. 17-18.
