Six MAC Wrestlers Earn All-American Status
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Six MAC Wrestlers have earned All-American status in the second day of the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships. The MAC is represented at the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cleveland with 34 wrestlers competing in this year's championships.

Lantry Loses on Friday to End NCAA Run
CLEVELAND, OH – Bryan Lantry dropped his first match on Friday to end his run at the NCAA Championships. Lantry lost a 4-3 decision to Rutgers' Scott Delvecchio in the wresltebacks of the 133 lb. bracket. Delvecchio did all his damage in the first period with two takedowns. Lantry earned three escapes in the match, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 4-0 deficit.

Central Michigan:
Oliver Falls In Consolation Round
CLEVELAND - Central Michigan's last hope for an All-America wrestler went by the wayside Friday night when Justin Oliver dropped a 9-4 decision in a 149-pound consolation-bracket match to Oklahoma State's Boo Lewallen at the NCAA Championships at Quicken Loans Arena. A win would have guaranteed Oliver All-America status. Instead, his season ended for the second-consecutive year one step from the podium.

Eastern Michigan:
Perry Earns All-American Honors on Day Two of NCAA Championships
CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the first time since 1999, the Eastern Michigan University wrestling team has an All-American as redshirt sophomore Sa'Derian Perry locked up the honor at 141 lbs. on day two of the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships inside Quicken Loans Arena, Friday night, March 16. Perry is the fifth All-American in program history, and the first since Mike Feeney took eighth in 1999. Perry began his day in the quarterfinals where he met top-seeded Bryce Meredith of Wyoming. The number one ranked grappler knocked Perry out of the championship bracket, sending him to the infamous 'bloodround' where he would meet No. 11 seeded Michael Carr of Illinois for All-American status.

From Unseeded To All-American
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Kent State junior 197-pounder Kyle Conel (Ashtabula, Ohio) defied all odds and became the Golden Flashes' latest All-American Friday at Quicken Loans Arena. Conel shocked No. 1 seed Kollin Moore (Ohio State) in the quarterfinals, before falling to No. 4 Michael Macchiavello of NC State in Friday night's semifinals. Conel tossed Moore to his back and pinned him 1:30 into the first period. Unseeded and placed in yesterday's pigtail round, Conel is now 4-1 for the tournament and is guaranteed a top six finish. He has wins over the No. 1, 8 and 9 seeds. Conel will take the winner of Jacob Holschlag of Northern Iowa.

Leeth and Miklus Become All-Americans at NCAA Championships
CLEVELAND, Ohio – In the fourth session of the NCAA Wrestling Championships, redshirt junior 149-pounder Grant Leeth and redshirt senior 197-pounder Willie Miklus (Altoona, Iowa) each won matches to earn All-America distinction, bringing Mizzou's 2018 total to four All-Americans. Mizzou Wrestling remains in sixth place after the session with 51.5 points. With the win, Miklus became the seventh three-time All-American in program history, while Leeth earned his first career All-America honor. Mizzou's four All-Americans marks the sixth time in program history the Tigers have recorded four or more All-Americans. Mizzou recorded five All-Americans in 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2017, and four in 2016.

Hudkins Run Comes To An End
CLEVELAND – Northern Illinois University wrestler Brock Hudkins had his run in the 2018 NCAA National Championships come to an end as the Huskie grappler lost in the second round consolation match at the Quicken Loans Arena on Friday. Hudkins, a native of Danville, Ind., suffered a 7-2 setback to No. 8 seed Ethan Lizak of Minnesota in his second round consolation match. Lizak recorded a takedown and two-point near fall in the first period and a two-point near fall in the second.

Kelly Closes Out Season
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio junior wrestler Cameron Kelly (Bellbrook, Ohio) suffered a 5-3 decision loss to Purdue's Ben Thornton (27-11) in the second session of the 2018 NCAA Championships at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday night (March 15). Kelly started the match on the attack hitting a takedown in the opening seconds. Thornton quickly escaped to bring it to 2-1. Quickly after his escape, Thornton added a takedown of his own to take a 3-2 lead in the first. Kelly then responded after he earned a point on an escape late in the first period to tie-up the score at 3-3.

Monarchs Season Comes To An End
CLEVELAND, Ohio – After the second day of action at the NCAA Championships, the remaining two Monarchs in Michael McGee and Larry Early were eliminated in the morning session. Michael McGee(125) and Larry Early (157) both end their seasons as first-time national qualifiers. Alex Madrigal (141) and Seldon Wright (174) both end their 2018 campaigns as two-time national qualifiers. Ending his freshman campaign, Michael McGee dropped his second consolation match to #11 Sean Russell of Edinboro by an 8-1 decision. McGee was one of 16 true freshman in the tournament and finished his season with a 30-12 record.
