MAC Men’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Lenhard Haupt, Western Michigan – Junior, Mainz, Germany (Stefan George Gymnasium)
Western Michigan junior Lenhard Haupt played a big part for the No. 31-ranked Western Michigan men’s tennis team last week in three matches as the Broncos went 3-0, improving to 11-2 overall and 7-0 at home. In just three matches Haupt went a perfect 3-0 without dropping a set against his opponents and moved from No. 4 to No. 2. The German is now 16-9 overall and 7-3 in dual-match play including an impressive 3-1 record at No. 3.

Marko Guzina, Ball State – Junior, Toronto, Canada (Silverthorn Collegiate Institute)
Ball State junior Marko Guzina at No. 1 singles played on the top court against Big Ten foe Michigan State Saturday afternoon in the Cardinals first match. He took the first set from the Spartans Michael Dube but the was then halted after the match had been decided. In the afternoon competition against Detroit Mercy, Marko would clinch the fourth point for the Cardinals after he took down Nathan Ponton, 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles position. Marko helped the Cardinals defeat the Titans 4-1 and improve to 8-2 overall for the season.
Valentin Bouchet, Binghamton – Junior, Miami, Fla. (Cours Diagonale France)
Binghamton junior Valentin Bouchet went 2-0 with both straight sets wins and was first off court against Temple.
Ethan Nittolo, Buffalo – Junior, Flushing, N.Y. (Townsend Harris High School)
Buffalo junior Ethan Nittolo won in straight sets on Sunday against Cleveland State as he defeated Luke Phillips at second singles, 6-4, 6-3, helping the Bulls to a 7-0 sweep of the Vikings. The win was Nittolo’s 11 of the season.
MAC Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Eric Olivarez, Western Michigan – Junior, Paranaque City, Philippines
Nick Schnobel, Western Michigan – Junior, Holland, Mich. (West Ottawa High School)
Western Michigan junior Eric Olivarez and junior Nick Schnobel continue to lead the No. 31 Western Michigan men’s tennis team in doubles play this season boosting the Broncos to an 11-2 overall and 7-0 at home after a three-match weekend. The pair went 2-0 together with wins at No. 2 and lead the team in wins on a 12-4 record and an impressive 6-1 record in dual-match play at No. 2. The pair started the weekend with a 7-5 comeback win over Valparaiso after trailing 3-5 on Friday before winning the deciding match 7-6 over their Dayton opponents to claim the doubles point for Western Michigan.

Tom Carney, Ball State – Junior, Joliet, Ill. (Joliet West High School)
Chris Adams, Ball State – Freshman, Port Huron, Mich. (Port Huron Northern H.S.)
Ball State junior Tom Carney and freshman Chris Adams at No. 3 doubles went 2-0 overall in this weekend's competition in the state of Michigan. Adams and Carney opened Saturday's play with a 6-2 victory over Big Ten foe Michigan State. The duo defeated the Spartans Billy Shisler and Davis Wong by a score of 6-2. Adams and Carney carried their momentum into the Cardinals second match of the day against Detroit Mercy. Adams alongside Carney took down the Titans Gvidas Motuzas and Adam Zychowicz 6-2 helping Ball State take the doubles point from UDM. Adams and Carney helped the Cardinals defeat the Titans 4-1 and improved Ball State's overall record to 8-2.
Vidit Vaghela, Buffalo – Senior, Ahmedabad, India (A.G. High School)
Petr Vodak, Buffalo – Senior, Kromeriz, Czech Republic
Buffalo senior Vidit Vaghela and senior Petr Vodak at No. 1 doubles won again on Sunday afternoon as they defeated Benjamin Slade and Mirko Radosevic from Cleveland State, 6-1, setting the tone for what was a 7-0 shutout of the Vikings. They improve to 4-1 at first singles with victory and are currently 6-1 overall on the year.
