Akron:
Game 1: Akron 1, Drexel 1 (tie)

MACON, Ga. -- The Akron Zips leave Macon, Ga. after playing to a 1-1 tie against Drexel on the final day of the Black and Orange Challenge due to heavy rain that forced the officials to call the contest in the top of the sixth inning. Due to NCAA rules, the contest reverts back to the previous full inning of play ending in a 1-1 tie after five innings of play.

Game 1: Ball State 11, Canisius 4

GREENVILLE, N.C. - - Big innings were the name of the game for the Ball State softball team at the ECU Pirate Invitational, and they did it again Sunday with an eight-run fourth in an 11-4 victory over Canisius. With the win, the Cardinals closed play in the three-day tournament with a 4-1 record and improved to 9-3 on the year.

HAMPTON, VA – The University at Buffalo softball team (5-7, 0-0 MAC) collected their fourth straight win on Sunday morning to cap an unblemished 4-0 weekend at the Hampton Classic. The Bulls were able to end their weekend on a high note as they earned the come-from-behind 9-6 victory over Youngstown State behind a three-run sixth inning. The win for Buffalo gives them their first four-game winning streak since 2016 when the Bulls were able to win five straight. It only took the Bulls 12 games to win their fifth game of the season as last season it took the Bulls until the 30th game of the season to collect their fifth win.

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Eastern Michigan University softball team closed out the second weekend of the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational by dropping a pair of games Sunday, Feb. 25. The Eagles (2-8) fell to the University at Albany, 9-1, before succumbing to Marist College, 6-2. At the dish, senior Haley Hostetler had an outstanding 4-for-6 day over the two games, to string together a five-game hitting streak. Meanwhile, fellow senior Angel Schilke also had a solid showing where she notched two hits in three at-bats.

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – Kent State's (7-3) late inning comeback attempt fell short to the Villanova Wildats (2-3) on Sunday morning at the EMU Madeira Beach Tournament. Kent State tried to muster a comeback in the sixth and seventh frames, but fell, 4-2. The Flashes bats were highlighted by Allie Luther 2-for-2 performance with a solo home run and a walk.

Raleigh, N.C. – The Ohio softball team (7-3) wrapped up play at the 2018 Homewood Suites Invitational on Sunday, falling to host NC State (10-5), 4-3 in eight innings, in the tournament championship game. The Bobcats wrapped up the weekend with a 4-1 record. NC State would get a runner on in the top of the first inning, when with two outs, Timberlyn Shurbutt tripled to right center. However, starting pitcher, Danielle Stiene (Loveland, Ohio), would get the last batter to line out, sending the game to the bottom of the frame still scoreless.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Toledo softball team closed out the WKU Hilltopper Classic with a 4-1 win against Indiana State and a 5-4 extra inning triumph over Wisconsin - Green Bay on Sunday at the Western Kentucky Softball Complex. With the double header sweep, the Rockets post a 4-1 mark on the weekend and are now 7-3 on the year.
