2018 Women's Swimming & Diving Championship Preview

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

Athens, Ohio - The 2018 Women's Swimming & Dving Championships are set to begin Wednesday, Feb. 21st on the campus of Ohio University. Get a preview of all eight teams competing below. 

Akron
The Akron swimming and diving team will begin its quest for a fifth-straight Mid-American Conference Championship after finishing the season with six regular season victories. The Zips will be led in the pool by senior Paloma Marrero Munoz  as well as juniors Sadie Fazekas and Madison Myers.

Ball State
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will look to improve after placing eighth in the MAC Swimming and Diving Championships last season, earning 161.5 points over the course of the four day event. This year, the Cardinals will be led by the diving duo of sophomores, Rachel Bertram and Rachel Smallwood.

Bowling Green
Bowling Green will look to return to their winning ways in 2018, after Falcons finished sixth at the 2017 MAC Championships, breaking a streak of four consecutive third-place finishes. BGSU will be led by sophomore and 2017 MAC Freshman Diver of the Year Talisa Lemke.

Buffalo
After finishing the 2018 season without a dual meet loss, the preseason MAC runner-up will look to finish the year strong in Athens. On ther cusp of breaking 10 school records and 2 MAC Records at last year's meet, the Bulls will be led by 2017 Most Outsanding Swimmer of the Year Megan Burns, as well as fellow senior Hannah Miller.

Eastern Michigan
The Eagles will be looking to earn their first Mid-American Conference title since 2007. 29-year head coach Peter Linn will lean on juniors Nicole Swartz and Delaney Duncan as they both posted individual victories at last seasons MAC Championship.

Miami
In 2018, Miami will be competing for their 18th MAC Championship and their first since the 2012-13 season. Miami enters the MAC Championships with a 4-4 overall record in dual meets with a first-place finish in the Miami Invitational. The RedHawks will be led by R-Senior Pei Lin on the diving board as she looks to continue her success at MAC Championships.

Ohio
Hosting thier first MAC Championship since 2011, Ohio finished the 2017 MAC Championship in 5th place earning 304 total points. Head coach Rachel Komisarz-Baugh will lean on returning junior and All-MAC First Team recipent Corrin Van Lanen, as well as sophomore Emily Zimcosky.

Toledo 
Second-year head Coach Jonas Persson will look to lead the Rockets to their first MAC title since the 2011-12 season. Toledo will hope to ride thier young guns Alida Ramden and 2017 All-MAC second team recipent Izzy Jones.
