MAC Announces Men's Golfers of the Week

Timothy Wiseman, Ball State, Junior

Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play     

Wiseman went 3-0-0, led the field in birdies and never trailed all week at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play. The junior beat a pair of top-500 players along the way to pace the Cardinals to a third-place team result. Wiseman opened with a decisive 5&4 victory over Drake's Drew Ison in Monday's quarterfinal round at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. In the afternoon semifinals, he dispatched Cam Solomon of top-seeded Miami, 3&2. Solomon entered ranked No. 462 in the country. In Tuesday's third-place match, Wiseman's only match to go the distance, he won the final hole for a 2 up victory over Nic Ross of Eastern Michigan. Ross was ranked No. 473. Not only did Wiseman never trail in any match, he was only all square after one hole the entire event. His 15 birdies were the most of any player in the field.

Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play     

Both Flavin and Ohr went 3-0 at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play tournament to lead Miami to the tournament victory. Facing each team's number one golfer, Flavin beat his opponent from Loyola 4&3 and his opponent from Ball State 3&2 on Monday. He followed that up with a 3&2 victory over Toledo's top ranked golfer in the final on Tuesday. Ohr got a pair of 1-up victories over Loyola and Ball State on Monday. He then beat his opponent from Toledo 4&3 to help secure the tournament championship.

Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play

Thurloway was unbeaten in three matches at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play event to help Toledo advance to the championship match of the event.  Thurloway posted a pair of victories as the Rockets’ No. 2 golfer on Monday by 4&2 over DePaul’s Freddy Thomas and 2&1 over EMU’s Nic Ross before notching a 1 UP victory at No. 1 over Miami’s Cam Solomon.

Celone posted a 2-0-1  record in his three matches played at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Event. Celone defeated Ohio's Austin Dyson, 4&3, and Toledo's  Colin Joseph (TOL), 3&2, before he halved his final match against Ball State's Michael Makris. He was the lone Eagle during the two-day tournament not to drop a match to an opponent.
