Hooks and Woods Tabbed WBB Players of the Week
East Division
Cierra Hooks, Ohio, Guard
Freshman – Dayton, Ohio/Thurgood Marshall
Freshman point guard Cierra Hooks once again led Ohio offensively, stringing together her most impressive week to date. Hooks averaged 23.0 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists per game and went 20-of-38 from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. The week also say Hooks set a new career-high in points with 30 against CMU. On Feb. 7 against CMU, Hooks scored a career-high 30 points, going 12-of-20 from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds, had one assist and a career-high nine steals. She also went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the 74-72 loss to CMU. On Feb. 10 at Kent State, Burke scored 16 points, going 8-of-16 from the field, grabbed one rebounds, dished out one assists and had three steals in Ohio's 78-65 victory.
West Division
Courtney Woods, Northern Illinois, Forward/Guard
Junior – Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret’s Anglican
Courtney Woods led the way for NIU in its perfect 2-0 week, averaging a double-double. Woods scored 26.0 points and hauled in 12.0 rebounds a game in two starts last week. The Huskie junior hit 51.6 percent of her shots, going 16-of-31 from the field, including 6-of-14 from three-point territory. Woods was an impressive 14-of-15 from the free throw line, including a perfect 10-for-10 in NIU's 73-68 victory over Bowling Green. Woods finished with 29 points, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, all on the defensive end, and dished out four assists. It was her eighth double-double of the season and second of the week. The Aussie began her week with a 23-point, 12-rebound in the Huskies' 84-61 win at Akron. She went 8-for-14 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point land.

Oshlynn Brown, Ball State, Forward
Freshman – Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe
Brown recorded her fourth straight double-double this past week helping the Cardinals to wins over Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan last week in Mid-American Conference action. The true freshman from Chillicothe, Ohio started the week with a career best performance after scoring 22 points while pulling down 13 rebounds in a mid-week win over the Eagles. On Saturday, Brown finished the week with her fourth-straight double-double after scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 boards helping Ball State to its 20th win of the season. For the week, Brown averaged a double-double points with 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds while shooting 78 percent from the field (14-of-18) and 74 percent from the charity stripe (14-of-19).
Shaunay Edmonds, Akron, Point Guard
Sophomore – Pittsburgh, PA/Seton La Salle
Shaunay Edmonds led the Zips to a 1-1 week against Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan. The Zips starting point guard scored a career-high 27 points against the Eagles going 10-of-17 from the floor (59-percent) and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, tying a career mark set earlier this season. To go along with her scoring, Edmonds ripped four steals, had three assists, and brought in two rebound in 34 minutes of action. Edmonds led all scorers in the contest en route to the Zips second MAC win and first MAC road win of the season. Against the Huskies, Edmonds scored six points, tallied four rebounds and two assists.
Presley Hudson, Central Michigan, Guard
Junior – Wayland, Mich./Wayland Union
Central Michigan posted two wins to remain undefeated in Mid-American Conference (12-0). The last time the Chippewas went 12-0 to start MAC play was in 2013-14. Central Michigan defeated Ohio, 74-72, on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 7 and then rolled past Toledo, 85-47, on Saturday, Feb. 10. Junior Presley Hudson led CMU averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. Hudson went 10-of-23 (43.5%) from the field and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the charity stripe. The junior led the team with 22 points, including five triples to go along with four assists and three rebounds at Ohio. She chipped 13 points with five assists and four boards versus Toledo. Hudson leads the team with 86 3-pointers and ranks second averaging 18.1 points per game.
Jordan Korinek, Kent State, Forward
Senior – Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/St Vincent-St. Mary
Jordan Korinek led all scorers in both of Kent State's games on the week and had averages of 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Korinek recorded her fourth double-double of the season on Saturday against Ohio with 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead all players in both categories. The senior accounted for more than half of the Golden Flashes' points by scoring a game-high 22 points in 25 minutes of action on Wednesday at MAC East leader Buffalo. Korinek has scored 20 or more points in 15 games this season and her average of 20.6 points per game ranks fifth in program history.
Courtnie Lewis, Eastern Michigan, Guard
Freshman – Belton, Mich./Belton
Freshman Courtnie Lewis (Belton, Mo.-Belton) paced the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team this past week, Feb. 7-11. Averaging 24.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and an assist per game, Lewis led the Eagles in scoring in games against Ball State and Akron. In EMU's road game at Ball State, the Belton, Mo. native tied a career-high with 29 points, while falling just short of a double-double with nine rebounds. Lewis followed that game up with a 19-point performance against Akron, Feb. 11, while also chipping in six rebounds, a steal, and an assist. For the season, Lewis ranks second on the team in scoring and inside the nation's top-10 for points per game by a "true" freshman. Additionally, she has reached double figures in nine straight games dating back to Jan. 3.
Kendall McCoy, Miami, Forward
Junior – Sylvania, Ohio/Northview
Junior forward Kendall McCoy had another strong week for the RedHawks. She began with a double-double on Wednesday in a win over Toledo, scoring 16 points to go with 10 boards. She followed that up with a career-high 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting against Buffalo on Saturday. She also collected seven boards.
Breanna Mobley, Western Michigan, Forward
Junior – Lansing, Mich./Lansing Waverly
Junior forward Breanna Mobley put together an impressive week for Western Michigan, averaging a double-double against Akron and Ball State. Mobley averaged 22.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for the Broncos all while shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 87.5 from the charity stripe. She had a monster game at Bowling Green pouring in the game-high 19 points to go along with 13 rebounds as the junior standout garnered her 10th double-double of the season and 29th of her lustrous career. Just three days after, the Lansing, Mich. native scored 25 points, two shy of tying a career-high, and just missed out on another double-double with nine rebounds against Ball State.
Cassie Oursler, Buffalo, Center
Senior – Grand Island, NY/Grand Island
Senior center Cassie Oursler had a strong week down low for the Bulls as she helped UB claim a pair of victories and post their best start to a season in program history, 19-4. Oursler finished off her week averaging a double-double as she went for 16.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. The senior recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in her UB career. On Wednesday, Oursler was unstoppable down low as she netted 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds across just 18 minutes of work while going 8-for-12 from the floor. On Saturday, Oursler helped lift UB to their third straight win as she netted 14 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks against Miami. Oursler has now recorded a career-high six games with double digit rebounds including three in her last five games overall.
Carly Santoro, Bowling Green, Guard
Junior – Bellevue, Ohio/Bellevue
Bowling Green junior Carly Santoro led the Falcons in scoring & rebounding, and tied for the team lead in assists, in last week's two games. Santoro had 16 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter alone, against Western Michigan. She also had five rebounds and a team-high three assists vs. the Broncos. Then, she had her 11th double-double of the season, with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds at Northern Illinois. On the season, Santoro is averaging 13.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, leading the Falcons in both categories.
