Despite a solid defensive effort and a big day from freshman forward Colleen Neitzel(Rocky River, Ohio), the Akron women's basketball team dropped a 63-47 decision to the Butler Bulldogs in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon at James A. Rhodes Arena. Butler used a 21-2 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to pull away for the road win.

Bowling Green 74, Canisius 53 // Box Score
The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team scored 22-straight points to break Saturday's (Dec. 8) game wide open, and the Falcons went on to post a 74-53 victory at Canisius College. The non-conference matchup was held at the Koessler Athletic Center. The Falcons, now 4-4 on the season, seized control of the game by scoring the last 19 points of the first quarter. BG hit a three-point field goal, one of 13 successful triples on the day, to begin the second period and cap the 22-point run.

Eastern Michigan 87, Purdue Fort Wayne 72 // Box Score
The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team began its four-game road trip with an 87-72 win over Purdue University Fort Wayne at the Gates Sports Center Saturday, Dec. 8. EMU fed off its best offensive performance of the season, knocking down a season-high 12 three-pointers, to take control of the game en route to the Eagles' fifth win of the season. For the first time since Dec. 18, 2015, Eastern Michigan (5-2) saw five players reach double figures. Sophomore Courtnie Lewis (Belton, Mo.-Belton) led the way with a game-high 28 points on 9-of-14 shooting, highlighted by six triples. Redshirt senior Danielle Minott (Miami, Fla.-Miami Country Day (Syracuse)) added 17 points and a team-high five rebounds.

Miami 68, Valparaiso 47 // Box Score
The Miami University women's basketball team (7-1) beat Valparaiso (3-6) by a 68-47 margin on Saturday. Nia Clark, Lauren Dickerson, Savannah Kluesner and Kendall McCoy all scored in double figures. Miami started the game on a 6-0 run before Valpo tied the game at six after three minutes of play with two shots from long range. Valpo made the next two three-pointers to take its first lead of the game, 12-10, with 4:32 remaining in the first quarter.

Northern Illinois 86, Western Illinois 61 // Box Score
Senior guard Mikayla Voigt(Slinger, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) set two Northern Illinois University women's basketball single-game records Saturday in the Huskies' 86-61 win over the Western Illinois Leathernecks at SIU Arena in the Compass Challenge. Voigt became the first NIU, and Mid-American Conference, women's basketball player to score 50 points in a game Saturday, scoring 52. She finished the game 19-for-25 from the field, 11-for-15 from the three-point line, and 3-for-3 at the free-throw line. Her 11 three-pointers broke the previous NIU single-game record of nine set by Alexis Lindstrom against Eastern Michigan on March 10, 2014. It is also one shy of tying the NCAA Division I single-game record, as well as a new MAC record.

Ohio 87, Coppin State 62 // Box Score
The Ohio women's basketball team (8-0) has started a season with eight-straight wins for the first time since 1985-86 after topping Coppin State (0-7), 87-62, in its final non-conference home game of the season today at the Convocation Center. Ohio's win over Coppin State was sparked by a powerful third quarter that saw the Bobcats outscore the Eagles 34-12 to take a 64-38 lead into the final quarter of play. Coppin State outscored Ohio by a 24-23 margin in the final quarter, but the Bobcats' margin was too large for the Eagles. Ohio shot 64 percent (11-of-17) with four three-pointers in the second half while limiting Coppin State to just 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from the floor. The Bobcats forced the Eagles to commit 31 turnovers -- the most by an Ohio opponent this season.

Toledo 56, No. 2 Notre Dame 72 // Box Score
Toledo did more than hold its own against defending national champion Notre Dame in Savage Arena, but it just wasn't enough, as the Midnight Blue & Gold suffered a 72-56 setback. Today's non-conference match-up was played before 6,059 fans in Savage Arena, the third-largest crowd in school history. The loss snaps UT's four-game winning streak and drops its record to 6-3 on the season. Toledo fed off the electric crowd all afternoon and gave the second-ranked Fighting Irish everything it could handle, as the contest featured four ties and six lead changes.
