Buffalo // Youngstown Icebreaker
The University at Buffalo indoor track and field team opened their 2018-19 season at the Youngstown Icebreaker hosted by Youngstown State on Friday with the Bulls collected two victories on the day in the 3000m and weight throw events. Junior distance runner Caleb Covell continued his momentum from the cross country season, which saw him claim two MAC Runner of The Week honors, as he claimed victory in the men's 3000m event with a finishing time of 8:34.54 in a field of 21 runners.

Central Michigan // GVSU Holiday Meet
The Central Michigan indoor track & field team claimed three firsts in placing fourth in the combined team standings on Friday at the Grand Valley State Holiday Meet at the Lakers' Kelly Family Sports Center. CMU's Samantha Cuneo won the women's 300-meter dash in 39.33 seconds; Janelle Perry won the women's long jump at 19 feet, 11 inches; Erin Howard won the women's shot put at 47-9.

Eastern Michigan Men // GVSU Holiday Meet
The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team began their 2018-19 campaign, Friday, Dec. 7, at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich. The Eagles saw success in their first meet of the season, as both seniors Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich.-Clinton) and Zach Harkey (Huron, Ohio-Huron) opened up the season with two of the best performances seen in Eastern Michigan track and field history. Harkey's throw of 19.74 meters, good for first-place, marked the fourth-furthest weight throw in program history. The Huron, Ohio native also recorded his career-best shot put throw at the event, clearing 15.69m (51-05.75), good for sixth place. Underwood's 300m first-place finish of 33.65 is the second-fastest time ever run by an Eastern Michigan student-athlete. Underwood's time is also the second-best recorded in the NCAA so far this season.

Eastern Michigan Women // GVSU Holiday Meet
The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team opened the 2018-19 season, Friday, Dec. 7, at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich. EMU was led by four event titles and 13 top-five finishes. "I thought that it was a solid day for us," head coach Sue Parks said. "Like all first meets, there were ups and downs. This gives us an idea of what we need to work on over the next five weeks until our next competition. This is just a starting point. We will take some good positives out of the day and strive to keep improving with each meet." The Eagles earned event titles in the 60H, 5000m, and 400m, as freshman Alysse Wade (Mansfield, Ohio-St. Peters), senior Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community), and junior Micah Johnston(Toledo, Ohio-Toledo Christian) each started off their 2018-19 campaigns with first-place finishes.

Kent State // YSU Icebreaker
The Kent State track and field program was represented by three student-athletes at the Youngstown State University Icebreaker in Youngstown, Ohio Friday afternoon. Senior Sarah Pack and sophomore Justin Prack started the 2018-19 indoor season with top-five finishes in the mile. Taking third place in the women's mile, Pack crossed the finish line with a time of 5:11.74. Prack finished in fourth place in the men's mile with a time of 4:24.88.

Northern Illinois // GVSU Holiday Open
Freshman Kaitlyn Lewis (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) won the 600 meters and senior Ericka Hibser (Lewistown, Ill./Lewistown) met the MAC Indoor Championship qualifying time as the Northern Illinois University women's track and field team opened the 2018-19 season on Friday at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open. "We had some highs and lows today," said NIU Director of Track and Field Connie Teaberry. "We are extremely young in some event areas and the staff looks for every athlete to compete and execute, if we do that we can accept the outcomes. We fell short a little in this area today, however we have several opportunities to get this corrected and I'm confident this group will.

Toledo // GVSU Holiday Invite
Two Rockets kicked off the indoor portion of the track and field season today at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Invitational. Junior Athena Welsh and senior Janelle Noe both competed in the 5K, where Welsh took third (16:24.28) and Noe took 23rd (17:39.68). "Athena ran really well with an 11-second indoor personal record and a four second personal record overall," head coach Linh Nguyen said. "She has been pretty sick this week so I wasn't sure how it would go today, but she's super tough and ran a great race."
