Egbo and Piatczyc Named to All-American Third Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches announced the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s All-America Teams on Thursday on the eve of the College Cup semifinals in Santa Barbara, Calif. 

Akron Forward David Egbo and West Viginia Midfielder Joey Piatczyc were both named to the third team. 

Piatczyc is the 11th Mountaineer in team history to earn All-America team accolades and the first since Andy Bevin in 2014. It is the 18th All-America honor in the program's 58-year history.
 
The Lee's Summit, Missouri, native had a record-breaking senior campaign, which included Mid-American Conference Player of the Year accolades. Piatczyc led WVU to a MAC regular-season title and the NCAA Tournament Second Round.

Egbo captured All-America accolades for the first time, while the United Soccer Coaches All-America citation is the 59th in the Zips' storied men's soccer history.

Egbo started 19 of the 21 games in which he has appeared for Akron this season, owning team-high marks in goals (12), points (29), shots (59), shots on goal (22) and game-winners (6), while rating third in assists (5). He paces the MAC in game-winning goals (0.29), while ranking second in goals per game (0.57)
