Playing at home for the first time in nearly two weeks, the Akron Zips closed out 2018 with a resounding 63-44 non-conference win over the Malone Pioneers on Saturday afternoon inside James A. Rhodes Arena. Akron cruised to its ninth win of the season and was led by a game-high 14 points by junior guard Shaunay Edmonds. Redshirt senior guard Megan Sefcik and redshirt junior forward Fredniqua Walker each contributed seven points for the Zips in the win, which was their fourth consecutive triumph to end the calendar year.

Central Michigan 57, Tulane 68 // Box Score
A slow start spelled doom for the Central Michigan women's basketball team on Saturday as it dropped a 68-57 decision to Tulane in the Chippewas' opener at the Miami Holiday Classic. The loss was CMU's second straight after its 72-68 defeat to No. 3-ranked Louisville a week ago.

Miami 74, Ohio Dominican 29  // Box Score
The Miami University women's basketball team (9-2) put together a dominating performance against Ohio Dominican (6-6) on Saturday, winning by a 74-29 margin to conclude non-conference play.  Allowing only 29 points ties the all-time low in Miami program history while the 74 points scored is the second-highest total of the season. The RedHawks continued to show scoring depth as nine different players scored points against the Panthers.

Ohio 77, American 67 // Box Score
After senior guard Dominique Doseck (Athens, Ohio) tied her career-high with 27 points, the Ohio Women's Basketball team (11-0) improved to 11-0 after a 77-67 win over American (4-7) on Saturday afternoon at Bender Arena. "It's nice to get out of here with a win," head coach Bob Boldon said.
