Cecil & Frost Named Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week

East Division
Andrea Cecil, Bowling Green, Guard/Forward
Junior – Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor

Bowling Green junior guard/forward Andrea Cecil averaged 25.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as the Falcons went 2-0 last week. Cecil shot 53.3% from the floor and was 8-for-16 from three-point range in the two wins. She also went 10-of-11 (90.9%) from the free-throw line. Cecil exploded for 30 points and 11 rebounds in the Falcons’ win over Detroit Mercy. The point total was a career best, and the rebound total tied her career standard. She knocked down four three-point tries to tie her career best in that category and had 11 points in the second quarter and 14 in the third, as BG downed the Titans, 79-73. Then, she tied for game honors with 20 points in the Falcons’ 79-72 road win over Valparaiso. Cecil again hit four three-pointers, and she added six rebounds in the victory. On the season, she is averaging 16.1 points per game and is shooting 51.0% from both the floor and the arc. Cecil has scored at least 19 points in six of BG’s 10 games this season, and she is currently ranked eighth in the entire nation in three-point field-goal percentage.
 
West Division
Reyna Frost, Central Michigan, Forward
Senior – Reese, Michigan/Reese

Senior forward Reyna Frost turned in her eighth double-double performance season Thursday as the Chippewas fell to No.3-ranked Louisville, 72-68, at home. Frost totaled 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting and brought down 13 boards. Frost was a perfect 2-of-2 on free throw attempts and was 2-of-8 from long distance. The Reese, Mich., native also chipped in with two assists, two steals and a block on the night. For the season, frost is averaging 16.6 points per game and 10.9 rebounds which ranks 27th nationally.
 

 
Other Nominees:
Amani Burke, Ohio, Guard
Junior – Columbus, Ohio/Eastmoor Academy

Junior guard Amani Burke (Columbus, Ohio) posted a career high of 24 points in Ohio's win over Richmond, 109-58. Burke helped the Bobcats score their fifth-highest total in program history behind a 7-of-10 day and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. Burke tied her career best from deep, going 4-of-5 and was an impressive +42. Burke also added six rebounds and two assists during the Bobcats 51-pointwin over the Spiders.
  
Lauren Dickerson, Miami, Guard
Junior – Indianapolis, Indiana/Lawrence North

Junior Lauren Dickerson continued to lead a fast-paced Miami offense as she scored a season-high 24 points in a dominating win against Jacksonville State last week. Dickerson also had a season-high nine field goals and tied a season-high four baskets from behind the arc. She also tallied five assists. Dickerson was a big part of the RedHawks best defensive game of the season, tying her career-high two blocks and stealing the ball once. Miami held JSU to just two points in the first quarter. The RedHawks defense forced the Gamecocks to shoot six percent from the floor in the first quarter and seven percent from behind the arc for the entire game. With Dickerson's play in the Jacksonville State game, she moves into 10th in Miami program history in points (1,289), seventh in assists (352), 10th in field-goal attempts (1,163), seventh in three-pointers made (186) and eighth in three-point attempts (515).
 
Cierra Dillard, Buffalo, Guard
Senior – Rochester, New York/Gates Chili

Senior Cierra Dillard continued her stretch of scoring at least 20 points in every game this season as she averaged 23.5 points a game during Buffalo's two games this week. On Friday, UB hosted #8 Stanford and Dillard scored 21 points as the Bulls hung with the Cardinal for the entire 40 minutes. On Sunday, in a dominating win over St. Bonaventure, Dillard had a game-high 26 points, while also dishing out six assists. Dillard is currently still second in the nation in scoring at 25.4 points per game.
 
Asiah Dingle, Kent State, Guard
Freshman – Stoughton, Massachusetts/Archbishop Williams

Asiah Dingle averaged a team-high 16.0 points per game to lead Kent State to a 2-0 record during last week’s road trip. In addition to leading the Golden Flashes in scoring, Dingle also played a big role in the team’s stellar defense that forced 24.0 turnovers per game and allowed only 52.0 points per game. The freshman point guard scored a career-high 17 points to go with five assists and zero turnovers to help Kent State post a season-high scoring total Monday at St. Bonaventure. Dingle scored 13 second-half points as the Flashes pulled away from NJIT on Friday.
 
Kaayla McIntyre, Toledo, Center
Senior – Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy

Senior Kaayla McIntyre averaged a team-high 18.0 points, a squad-best 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, a team-high 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in a pair of Toledo victories this past week. McIntye shot 56.0 percent (14-of-25) from the field and a team-high 80.0 percent (8-of-10) from the charity stripe in 28.5 minutes per contest. The 2017-18 third-team All-MAC selection opened the week with 23 points, eight boards, two helpers, one rejection and one theft in 26 minutes vs. Stony Brook on Tuesday. Four days later against Detroit Mercy, the 2018-19 Preseason All-MAC West Division Team honoree had 13 points, a career-high 16 caroms, a collegiate-best six dimes, two blocked shots and two thefts in 31 minutes. McIntyre is the only Rocket to score at least 10 points in all 11 games this year.
 
Danielle Minott, Eastern Michigan, Guard
R-Senior – Miami, Florida/Miami Country Day (Syracuse)

Redshirt senior Danielle Minott led Eastern Michigan at the West Palm Invitational, Dec. 20-21. Minott averaged 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and one steal per game over the two-game, two-day tournament. Minott closed out the week with a 21-point performance against Butler, Dec. 21. The Miami, Fla. native tied a season-high with five triples, while adding four rebounds and two steals to her stat line.
 
Jasmin Samz, Ball State, Guard
Senior – Wausau, Wisconsin

Jasmin Samz helped the Cardinals defeat Tennessee State, 90-51, Friday evening in Worthen Arena. Samz led the way with 17 points and matched her career high with nine rebounds.  Samz helped the Cardinals shoot 51 percent for the game and score 44 points in the paint. Samz shot 63 percent (7-of-11) from the field herself and went 1-for-1 from behind the arch.
 
Megan Sefcik, Akron, Guard
R-Senior – Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch

Redshirt senior Megan Sefcik led Akron to a pair of wins at the 2018 South Point Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic capturing wins 7 and 8 on the year including the program's 500th win all-time. The senior guard continued to light up the gym with her impeccable shooting and all-around game against Jackson State and the University of Texas-El Paso. Sefcik averaged 15 points per game including 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.5 steals. Combined, the guard knocked down seven clutch three-pointers. Against Jackson State, Sefcik notched 13 points, five boards, three assists, and three steals. The following day against the Miner's, the senior tallied a game-high 17 points to go along with four rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Additionally, Sefcik was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.  
 
Mikayla Voigt, Northern Illinois, Guard
Senior – Slinger, Wisconsin/Kettle Moraine Lutheran

Voigt led NIU in scoring in both of the Huskies' wins this week. The senior guard made five three-pointers on her way to scoring a game-high 25 points in NIU's 78-59 win over Eastern Illinois on Dec. 17. She also added nine rebounds. On Dec. 21, Voigt scored 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting from the field when NIU tied a Convocation Center record with 114 points in a 62-point win over Chicago State. Voigt added a season-high eight assists and had six rebounds and three steals. For the week, Voigt averaged 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Voigt shot 56.3 percent from the field in the two games and 50 percent from the three-point line.

Deja Wimby, Western Michigan, Guard
Senior - Fort Wayne, Indiana (Snider)

Senior point guard Deja Wimby led the Broncos to a 1-1 record at the Stetson Hatter Classic in DeLand, Fla., averaging 12.5 points per game en route to earning All-Tournament Team honors. Wimby also surpassed 400 career assists during the setback versus North Dakota, becoming the eighth Bronco all-time to reach the 400-career assist mark.
