After enjoying the sights of Las Vegas, the Akron women's basketball team got down to business on Thursday night inside South Point Arena as the Zips defeated Jackson State, 74-57, behind the strength of a big third quarter in game one of the 2018 South Point Holiday Hoops Classic. After struggling to find an offensive rhythm for most of the first half against the Tigers, Akron dominated the third quarter outscoring Jackson State, 26-15, and led by as many as 17 in the period. Despite a short offensive spurt in the fourth quarter by JSU, Akron held on for the victory.

Central Michigan 68, No. 3 Louisville 72 // Box Score
No, it wasn't a victory. But Central Michigan women's basketball coach Sue Guevaraand the 2,833 Chippewa fans in McGuirk Arena could not have asked for much more than they got from their beloved team on Thursday night. All-American Asia Durr scored 26 of her 31 points in the second half as No. 3 Louisville held off the hard-charging Chippewas, 72-68, before a raucous partisan crowd.

The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team saw its three-game win streak snapped with a 49-44 setback at the hands of UNC Greensboro Thursday night, Dec. 20, in its first game at the West Palm Invitational at Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center on the campus of Kaiser University. Eastern Michigan (6-3) nearly erased a 12-point deficit, but UNC Greensboro used its three-point shooting to slip past the Eagles. Redshirt senior Danielle Minott and redshirt sophomore Corrione Cardwell led the Eagles with 12 points apiece, while redshirt senior Emoni Jackson grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds and added eight points.

Western Michigan 50, North Dakota 62 // Box Score
The Western Michigan women's basketball team opened the Hatter Classic with a 62-50 loss versus the University of North Dakota on Thursday, Dec. 20 on the campus of Stetson University. The Broncos struggled to shoot from the field, converting a season-low 14 field goals made on 52 attempts. WMU scored 22 points off UND turnovers. North Dakota out-rebounded Western Michigan 46-27 while shooting 41.2 percent from the field.
