TOLEDO, Ohio -- Jaelan Sanford scored 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting plus going 9 of 9 from the foul line and Toledo beat Cornell 86-70 on Wednesday night.
The Big Red built a 19-8 lead when Jimmy Boeheim converted a 3-point play then followed it up with a 3-pointer. Toledo (10-1) then put together an 18-6 run and took the lead for good on Sanford's layup 7:30 before halftime. His jump shot three minutes later gave the Rockets their first 10-point lead and they went to intermission up 48-39.
Terrance McBride hit a jumper and Cornell (5-5) got within 51-47 but never drew closer. Nate Navigato's basket with 11:49 left made it 71-56.
Navigato finished with 17 points, Chris Darrington scored 10 and Willie Jackson grabbed 10 rebounds. Toledo had a 44-22 rebounding edge.
Matt Morgan led Cornell with 24 points and made all 10 of his foul shot attempts. Josh Warren added 14 points.
Central Michigan 81, UMKC 72

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Shawn Roundtree scored 22 points including a trio of 3-pointers in the second half that helped rally Central Michigan to beat UMKC 81-72 on Wednesday night.
The Chippewas (9-2) trailed 35-33 at the break and struggled early in the second half. Down by two midway, Larry Austin Jr. made a tip shot and Roundtree followed with back-to-back 3-pointers to spark an 18-5 rally that included another Rountree 3 to give Central Michigan a 66-56 lead with 7:39 to play. UMKC cut it to 75-70 with 1:49 left but couldn't get closer.
Austin finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Chippewas who have won their last three. Robert Montgomery had nine points and seven rebounds.
Central Michigan had a 44-31 rebounding edge over UMKC.
Xavier Bishop led the Kangaroos (4-9) with 19 points. Rob Whitfieldadded 17.
Dayton 85, Western Michigan 72

DAYTON, Ohio -- Josh Cunningham scored 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting plus going 8 of 8 from the foul line and Dayton beat Western Michigan 85-72 on Wednesday night.
Obi Toppin added 22 points on 11-of-11 shooting for the Flyers (6-5) and Jalen Crutcher had 14 points and 10 assists. Toppin tied the Dayton record for most field goals in a game without a miss.
Michael Flowers led the Broncos (5-6) with 20 points and Josh Davishad 17.
Western Michigan shot 52 percent in the first half but couldn't keep pace as Dayton shot 69 percent and had three players in double figures in taking a 45-33 lead. A 13-2 run in the middle of the half, when Toppin scored six, pushed a four-point lead to 34-19.
Western Michigan sliced the deficit eight, but Cunningham had a pair of 3-point plays in 18 seconds to open an 8-0 run. The Broncos hit three-straight 3s, the last two by Davis, to get it back to seven, but Toppin had consecutive dunks and Dayton held off WMU.
The Flyers shot 52 percent in the second half, despite going 0 for 7 from distance, and were 12 of 13 from the foul line.
UC Irvine 52, Eastern Michigan 48

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Freshman Collin Welp had his first double-double and Robert Cartwright hit a 3-pointer with 11.3 seconds left to help UC Irvine beat Eastern Michigan 52-48 on Wednesday night.
Welp finished with 11 points and a season-high 10 rebounds, Max Hazzard scored 14 points and Evan Leonard added 10 for UCI. The Anteaters (11-2) have won 10 consecutive road games -- tied with Virginia for the longest active streak in Division I.
The Eagles went scoreless for nearly 10 minutes as UCI scored 16 consecutive points -- including seven by Hazzard -- to open an eight-point lead with seven minutes left. The Anteaters didn't score again until Eyassu Worku's jumper with 2:56 remaining to extend their lead to 44-40.
The teams traded baskets before Paul Jackson converted a 3-point play that pulled EMU within one with 1:34 left. Cartwright, a graduate transfer from Stanford, came up with a loose ball, was fouled and made the second of two free throws. After the Eagles missed on the other end, Cartwright banked in a 3 late in the shot clock to make it 50-45. Kevin McAdoo answered with a 3 but Evan Leonard made two foul shots with three seconds left to cap the scoring.
Elijah Minnie led Eastern Michigan (5-6) with 15 points. Jackson, who came in averaging a team-leading 13.4 points per game, scored four on 1-of-10 shooting.
