MAC ANNOUNCES 2018 FOOTBALL ACADEMIC ALL-MAC TEAM
155 Students honored with excellence in academics and athletics
 
Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2018 Football Academic All-MAC team as a total of 155 students were named to the 2018 Academic All-MAC team.   
   
Western Michigan (Tyron Arnett, Jamauri Bogan, Brett Borske, Mike Caliendo, Stefan Claiborne, Dylan Deatherage, Wesley French, Jaylen Hall, Ralph Holley, Luke Juriga, Spencer Kanz, John Keenoy, Odell Miller, Tanner Motz, Zach Novoselsky, Giovanni Ricci, Luke Sanders, Harrison Taylor, Justin Tranquill and Jon Wassink) topped the 2018 Academic All-MAC squad with 20 selections.
 
Ball State (Chris Beech, Curtis Blackwell, Brock Burns, Bryce Cosby, Jimmy Daw, Joseph Greenwood, Trevor Hohlt, Will Jones, Riley Miller, Riley Neal, Danny Pinter, Drew Plitt, Andrew Poenitsch, Zac Ricketts, Kyle Schrank, Fred Schroeder, Marc Walton, Jordan Williams and Grant Williamson) and Toledo (Tycen Anderson, Yazeed Atariwa, Cameron Bell, Mitchell Berg, Nate Childress, Devonte Dunn, Jordan Fisher, Bailey Flint, Zachary Ford, Reggie Gilliam, Mitchell Guadagni, Bryce Harris, DeAmonte King, Nick Kovacs, Drew Rosi, Shakif Seymour, Tyler Taafe, Cody Thompson and Victor Williams) were second with 19 selections each.
 
Four students were named as four-time selections as Blake Banham (Eastern Michigan), Max Scharping (Northern Illinois), Luke Shively (Northern Illinois) and Zach Novoselsky (Western Michigan) received the academic honor all four years.

In addition, another 39 students were named as two-time Academic All-MAC selections.
 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student who has excelled in athletics and academics.  To qualify, a student must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
