Playing their first game in eight days, the Akron women's basketball team shook off a sluggish start and pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 62-53 non-conference win over Canisius at James A. Rhodes Arena Sunday afternoon. Akron improves to 6-2 overall on the season and picked up its third home win of the season. The Golden Griffins of Canisius fall to 1-9. Redshirt senior guard Megan Sefcik (Austintown, Ohio) led all scorers with 24 points, along with four rebounds and three assists, while junior forward Caitlin Vari (Richfield, Ohio) tallied her second double-double of the season and career with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the win.

Ball State 86, Western Kentucky 83 // Box Score
Sophomore forward Oshlynn Brown scored a career-high 25 points while adding 10 rebounds to help Ball State beat Western Kentucky by a score of 86-83 Sunday evening in E.A. Diddle Arena. With the win, the Cardinals improve their overall record to 3-7 while the Lady Toppers fall to 5-7 on the year. Today's victory over WKU marks the first time since 2008 that Ball State has won in E.A. Diddle Arena.?

Miami 56, Florida A&M 57 // Box Score
The Miami University women's basketball team (7-2) fell to Florida A&M (2-6) by a 56-57 margin on Sunday in a back-and-forth game. Kendall McCoy led the RedHawks offense with 16 points while Nia Clark and Savannah Kluesner picked up 14 each. The teams were tied at two, four and six points as the game began in back-and-forth fashion. After being tied at six, Miami went on an 8-0 run to take a 14-6 lead with less than two minutes left in the first quarter. The run was capped by a three-pointer from McCoy – the first long-range basket from the RedHawks in the game.

Behind a career-high 22 points from redshirt freshman forward Erica Johnson, the Ohio women's basketball team (9-0) earned its first road win of the season, 73-66, over IUPUI (6-4) on Sunday afternoon. "It was the type of win that we needed to see if we're exactly who we are," head coach Bob Boldon said. "They exploited our inability to rebound, but our kids hung in there and got some big shots down the stretch when we needed them. It was clearly a team effort, and it was a nice job of the next girl stepping up when we needed her."

The Western Michigan women's basketball team opened its Florida trip with a 69-59 victory over Florida Atlantic University on Sunday, Dec. 16. WMU ties a season-high with 69 points in the first ever meeting between and Broncos and the Owls, improving its record to 4-4 overall on the season.
