Joey Piatczyc, West Virginia

Midfield, Senior, Lee's Summit, Mo.

WVU senior midfielder Joey Piatczyc continued his record-breaking senior season with a four-point night in the regular-season finale. In West Virginia's 4-3, overtime win at Northern Illinois on Nov. 3, Piatczyc scored the Mountaineers' second goal and assisted on the third and fourth, including the game-winning assist in the 97th minute. Both assists came on perfectly-placed free kicks inside the six. The multi-assist match was the fifth of his career, breaking the school record, while Piatczyc extended his school-record career assist total to 33. He now has 12 game-winning assists, which ranks No. 2 all-time, and 21 game-winning points, sixth-most in a career in WVU history. On the season, Piatczyc is No. 9 nationally with five game-winning goals and No. 20 with 8 total assists, while he is second in the MAC with 22 points. In league play, Piatczyc paces the MAC with 11 points and two game-winning goals and is second with four goals, 15 shots and eight shots on goal.
Other Nominees

Ebenezer Ackon, Bowling Green
Defender, Senior, Cape Coast, Ghana (Mfantsipim School)

Bowling Green senior defender Ebenezer Ackon was stellar at both ends of the field in the Falcons’ dominant 2-0 win over SIUE. With the victory, BGSU secured the second seed for the Mid-American Conference Tournament. After a 1-5-2 start to the season, BGSU is 5-1-2 in the last eight matches. On Senior Night, Ackon was part of a BG back line that limited the Cougars (9-3-4 overall entering the match) to just one shot on goal all night. Ackon, who played all 90 minutes, scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season on a header with just 13 seconds remaining in the half, giving BG a 1-0 lead at the break. The Falcons finished MAC play with a 2-1-2 record, and earned a first-round bye for the league tourney.
