The Ball State women's volleyball team recovered from a big opening set loss to take the second frame, but could not maintain the momentum in a 3-1 (25-9, 12-25, 25-23, 25-18) loss to in-state rival Valparaiso Thursday evening in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) played at Millett Hall. With the loss, the Cardinals finish the season with a 22-10 overall record. The Crusaders improve to 26-10 on the year and will face Miami (23-8) in Friday's NIVC second round matchup at 7 p.m. The RedHawks used its home court advantage to open the NIVC with a sweep of Northern Kentucky Thursday night.

For the first time since 1998, the Miami University volleyball team earned a postseason victory as it cruised to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-22) win over Northern Kentucky Thursday in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. The RedHawks improve to 23-8 overall, while the Norse finish the year at 21-10. It was a complete team effort, led by the Miami defense. The RedHawks held an 8-2 block advantage, and allowed only a .083 attack percentage by NKU. Sophomore libero Abigail Huser finished with a team-high 15 digs, while freshman outside hitter Gaby Harper had 14 digs and five blocks. Sophomore setter Morgan Seaman recorded a double-double with 21 assists and 10 digs.
