Box Score
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Montell McRae and Jeremy Harris each scored 11 points as No. 25 Buffalo pulled away in the second half for a 62-53 win over Southern Illinois on Monday night.

Davonta Jordan had nine points and five assists for the Bulls (3-0). Buffalo entered the Top 25 for the first time in school history Monday following its 99-94 overtime win at West Virginia on Friday night.

CJ Massinburg added seven points and a team-high six rebounds for Buffalo. Massinburg had 43 points and 14 rebounds in the victory at West Virginia.

Kavion Pippen led Southern Illinois (0-2) with 18 points. Aaron Cookscored 11 and Sean Lloyd had 10.

Southern Illinois played without starting forward Armon Fletcher, its top returning scorer from last season. Fletcher hurt his knee in the season-opening loss at Kentucky.

Buffalo won despite shooting 35.5 percent from the field, including 8 of 28 from 3-point range. The Bulls had a 41-33 advantage on the glass and scored 23 points off 19 Salukis turnovers.

The national ranking is the latest feat for a Buffalo program that has been transformed since hiring Bobby Hurley as coach in 2013.

Elevating fourth-year coach Nate Oats from an assistant role after Hurley left for Arizona State has helped Buffalo continue its success. The Bulls reached the NCAA Tournament in two of the past three seasons after Hurley led them there for the first time in 2015.

Buffalo came into this season with high expectations after losing just one key player, point guard Wes Clark, from a team that won a school-record 27 games and upset fourth-seeded Arizona as a No. 13 seed in the first round of last year's NCAA Tournament.

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University men's basketball team used strong performances on both ends of the court to earn a 91-42 victory over Midway in its home opener Monday night inside Millett Hall. The RedHawks improve to 1-1 on the season.

On the offensive end, Miami shot 56.3 percent (36-for-64). Sophomore guard Nike Sibande led the way with 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Sophomore forward Dalonte Brown also had a big night, scoring 18 points, only one off his career high.

The RedHawks were stifling defensively, holding Midway to 26.2 percent (16-for-61) shooting for the game. Miami forced the Eagles into 21 turnovers.

A layup from Brown, followed by a layup and three-pointer from junior forward Bam Bowman quickly staked Miami to an 8-2 lead. Midway answered with a 10-6 run to pull within two at 14-12 with 13:44 before the RedHawk offense began to roll. Redshirt sophomore guard Milos Jovic drained a jumper, while Brown and redshirt senior forward Aleks Abrams each had layups to make it 20-12 at the under-12 media timeout.

Out of the break, freshman guard Mekhi Lairy hit a jumper, then stole the ball on Midway's next possession, driving it in for another layup. A three-pointer from freshman forward Elijah McNamara and a jumper from Sibande made it a 20-point game at 34-14 with 8:11 to go.

The Eagles cut the deficit down to 15 at 34-19, but would not threaten again. A triple from Brown, followed by a dunk by sophomore forward Jalen Adaway started a 13-5 run over the final six minutes that sent the RedHawks into the break on top, 47-24.

Miami's defense really locked down to begin the second half, holding Midway to no field goals and only one point over the first 10:14 of the period. During that stretch, Sibande scored six for the RedHawks, including an alley-oop dunk after an Adaway steal. Senior guard Darrian Ringo would steal the ball under the basket and send the long pass to Brown for the dunk at the 15:09 mark. With 10:58 to go Abrams completed an old-fashioned three-point play to make it 73-25 and complete a 26-1 run.

The Eagles finally got on the board with a bucket at the 9:46 mark. Abrams, Lairy and redshirt senior guard Abdoulaye Haround each hit jumpers to keep increasing the advantage. Miami had its largest lead of 56 points when Sibande hit a jumper to make it 87-31 with 5:45 to go. From there the RedHawks would cruise to the 91-42 win.

Adaway scored 11 for Miami while Abrams and Lairy contributed eight. A total of 14 different RedHawks scored during the contest. Miami held a 44-34 rebounding advantage over Midway. Sibande led the way with seven boards, while Brown and redshirt sophomore forward Precious Ayah each had six. A total of 13 different RedHawks had rebounds in the game.'
