The University of Akron volleyball team defeated the Buffalo Bulls in straight sets (25-13, 18-26, 25-23) on Thursday night at James A. Rhodes Arena. Akron earned its first conference win of the season, improving to 9-7 overall and 1-4 in Mid-American Conference play. The Bulls fell to 10-7 overall and 2-3 in the MAC. Akron's offense was led for the fourth-straight match by senior Kayla Gwozdz, who totaled 15 kills on the night. Junior Ashley Richardson and sophomore Alexis Adleta added 10 and six kills, respectively.

Led by a trio of players with double-digit kills, the Ball State women's volleyball completed its three-match homestand with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-19) sweep of Mid-American Conference West Division rival Toledo Thursday night in Worthen Arena. In picking up its third consecutive MAC sweep, the Cardinals (13-5; 4-1 MAC) offense could hardly be stopped as BSU finished the night with a .374 (54-8-123) attack percentage. It was the team's third-best offensive performance of the season and its best in league play since a .396 (45-7-96) effort versus Buffalo on Sept. 30, 2017.
