PROVO, Utah -- NIU safety Mykelti Williams intercepted Brigham Young quarterback Zach Wilson with 1:47 to play, sealing the Huskies 7-6 victory at Lavell Edwards Stadium and capping what NIU head coach Rod Carey called "a spectacular performance" by the Huskie defense. The victory, NIU's fourth consecutive and its first in non-conference play, improved the Huskies' record to 5-3 on the season, while BYU fell to 4-4.
NIU won a game with seven points or less for the first time in 30 years, since opening the 1988 season with a 7-6 win over Akron on Sept. 3. The Huskie defense, which totaled five sacks and eight tackles for loss in the game, kept BYU out of the end zone, allowing the lone touchdown, a one-yard run by Marcus Childers on the first drive of the second half, to hold up for the win.

AKRON, Ohio -- Akron claimed its fourth win on the season with a 17-10 victory over Central Michigan on a soggy Saturday afternoon at InfoCision Stadium–Summa Field. The Zips (4-3, 2-2 MAC) utilized 319 yards of total offense despite five turnovers to snap a six-game series win streak by the Chippewas (1-8 overall, 0-5 MAC).
Akron senior Van Edwards, Jr. led all rushers with a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown, eclipsing the 100-yard rushing mark for the third time in his career and first time this season. Sophomore QB Kato Nelson went 10-of-27 for 149 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore WR Andre Williams was the Zips' leading receiver with five catches for 50 yards. Defensively, junior LB John Lako led all defenders with a career-high 23 tackles, two TFL, a fumble recovery, and a break-up.

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Eastern Michigan dropped its 2018 Homecoming clash with Army West Point Saturday, Oct. 27, in non-conference action inside "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium. EMU trailed by 16 points at the half, but battled back within two before falling, 37-22. Overall, the Black Knights (6-2), the nation's leader in time of possession, held the ball for nearly 46 minutes of game time to limit EMU's (4-5, 2-3 MAC) offense to just nine drives on the afternoon.
Defensively, four Eagles racked up double-digit tackles. Senior Kyle Rachwal led the way with a game-high 14 stops, including the 300th of his career. Fellow senior Jeremiah Harris added a dozen, while senior Tyler LaBarbera and junior Maxx Crosby chipped in 11 and 10, respectively. All three defenders posted career-bests. After being shutout in the first half, graduate transfer quarterback Tyler Wiegers paced Eastern's pass-heavy offense after the intermission. He racked up 201 yards through the air, while completing 19-of-29 attempts. Wiegers founded senior Blake Banham for a 58-yard TD strike as part of a 104-yard receiving day, while junior Mathew Sexton hauled in Wiegers' other touchdown toss.
