Women's Golfer of the Week
Jessica Madry, Bowling Green State University

Jessica Madry, a junior from Houston, Texas, was simply phenomenal across all 36 holes of golf, as she picked up the first collegiate win of her career while also leading BGSU to a team championship at the 2018 Shirley Spork Invitational. Madry opened the tournament with a career-low 71, and then the following day, topped that career low by carding a final-round 70 on her way to a three-stroke victory. Of the 62 golfers at the event, Madry was the only one to shoot below par, let alone three-under par. The junior led the entire field in birdies (8) and par-three scoring (2.63), as she became the 18th player in school history to earn an individual title. Bowling Green posted a school-record 592 to win the tournament, which included four other MAC schools, by 23 strokes. 
Other Nominees 

Karoline Stormo, Kent State  

Junior, Tvedestrand, Norway
 
Junior Karoline Stormo led the Flashes’ efforts at the Illini Women’s Invitational being crowned co-champion with a 9-under 207 score. Stormo had a record-setting first-round carding a career-best 6-under 66 score and aided the Flashes to their third-straight top-3 finish of the season.  The junior completed her final round with another low round of 4-under par 68 score and shot seven birdies. Over the tournament, Stormo totaled 15 birdies. This is Stormo’s first tournament win of the season. Kent State finished second at 23-under par 841 (277-286-278).
On the season, Stormo has a scoring average of 72.22 and has shot four rounds for par or better, two of which are in the 60’s. 
 
Jami Laude, Central Michigan           
Sophomore, Ann Arbor, Mich. (Skyline)       
 
Laude started the final round in 14th place in the 62-player field and then posted a 74 to finish tied for fifth in the 62-player field. Laude led a strong showing by the Chippewas in the final round, as they posted a 308 team score, the second-best of the day, in moving from seventh place to fourth. The fourth-place team finish was the third-best for a Chippewa team since the program's resurrection before the 2014-15 season.
 
Brielle Ward, NIU       
Senior, Frisco, Texas (Wakeland)                  
 
Brielle Ward was NIU's top finisher at the Illini Women's Invitational in a highly competitive field at the Medinah Country Club. The Huskies took on some of the nation's best and Ward was consistent throughout the event.  
 
Fiona Wang, Western Michigan        
Freshman, Yangon, Myanmar (Heritage Academy)
 
Wang was WMU's  top finisher at the EMU Shirley Spork Invitational with a 149 (+5) in the 36-hole tournament. Wang led the Broncos with a team-high 24 pars, tied for fifth-most in the tournament. This was the first top-five finish for Wang in her young career as a Bronco. She combined with her teammates to help WMU tie for fifth place. 
 
Green Apichonlati, Eastern Michigan           
Freshman, Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School  
 
Playing as an individual, freshman Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) picked up her first career top-10 showing with a 151 (73-78) in a tie for ninth. Green fired back-to-back birdies on No. 9 and No. 10 during the final round en route to identical tallies of 38.
 
As a team, EMU placed three players inside the top-20 at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 9, on the par 72, 6,176-yard Eagle Crest Golf Club course. The Eagles posted a final round 317 for seventh-place with a two-day tally of 627 (310-317). The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, but a late start due to fog forced it to be shortened.
 
Pimchanok Kawil, Toledo       
Senior, CHIANG MAI, THAILAND (PRINCE ROYAL’S COLLEGE)         
 
Senior Pimchanok Kawil re-wrote the University of Toledo women's golf record book this weekend when she finished in third place at Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. Kawil broke school records for 18 holes and 54 holes by two shots each. 
 
Kawil fired a tournament-record seven-under 65 on Saturday and finished the tourney with a program-record eight-under par 208 (73-65-70). Kawil tied for first in the tournament field in par-four scoring at five-under par and ranked third with 13 birdies.
 
Kawil opened her record-breaking round on Saturday with three birdies and a bogey and hit the turn at three-under par. She then opened her back nine with three straight birdies to get to six-under. After five straight pars, Kawil finished her day with a birdie on the final hole."
