MAC Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Jordan Korinek, Kent State, Forward
Senior – Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary

Jordan Korinek averaged 24.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in Kent State’s two conference contests to start 2018. Korinek was a perfect 15-for-15 at the free throw line and posted the 19th and 20th 20-point games of her collegiate career.

Tinara Moore, Central Michigan, Forward
Senior –Southgate, Mich./Southgate Anderson

Central Michigan rang in the New Year with two Mid-American Conference victories last week. The Chippewas topped Ohio, 82-58, on Jan. 3 and defeated Miami, 84-66, on Jan. 6. Senior Tinara Moore led the Chippewas both offensively and defensively as she averaged a double-double (23.0 ppg; 12.5 rpg) between the two contests. She went 14-of-25 (56.0%) from the floor and shot 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the free throw line. On Wednesday, Moore posted a team-high 22 points and 16 rebounds to go along with three blocks in 33 minutes. She was perfect (11-of-11) from the charity stripe. Against the RedHawks, her scoring momentum continued as she scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 34 minutes on the floor. The Southgate, Mich. native is averaging 17.1 point per game and grabbing 9.2 rebounds per contest. She leads the team in MAC-only scoring with 19.7 points per game and is averaging 13.0 rebounds per game.
 
Courtney Woods, Northern Illinois, Guard/Forward
Junior – Brisbane, Australia/ St. Margaret’s Anglican

Courtney Woods recorded a pair of double-digit scoring efforts as she helped NIU to a pair of victories in conference play last week. Woods tied her career-high in points, scoring 39, as she led the Huskies to an 81-79 victory over MAC East foe Kent State. The native of Brisbane, Australia shot 57.9 percent from the field, including 7-of-10 from three-point territory. Her seven made three-pointers were also a career best. Woods also posted career bests in free throws and free throws attempted, going 10-of-12 from the line. She followed up her performance versus the Golden Flashes with a double-double helping the Huskies to an 86-84 overtime win over Buffalo. Woods tallied 17 points and hauled in 10 rebounds as the Huskies remained perfect at home this season.

Taylor Agler, Ohio, Guard
R-Senior – Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy Orange

Redshirt senior guard Taylor Ager helped lead the Bobcats to a 1-1 week this past week, using her leadership to propel the Bobcats to a thrilling 70-67 overtime victory against Akron on Jan. 6. Overall, Ager averaged 11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds a game, 4.5 assists and one steal while shooting .434 from the field. Agler's leadership was proven on Jan. 6 against Akron when with five seconds to go in overtime with the game tied at 67-67, Agler took the ball in the inbounds and drove to the basket, connecting on the layup as she was fouled. After hitting the free throw with .9 seconds to go, the Bobcats would come away with the 70-67 victory. Overall in the game, Ager scored 16 points, going 7-of-14 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free throw line. She also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds while dishing out a team-high six assists and grabbing one steal in 42 minutes on the court. On Jan. 3 saving CMU, Ager scored seven points, going 3-of-9 from the field, 1-of-3 from three-point range while grabbing three rebounds and dishing out three assists with one steal.
 
Sasha Dailey, Eastern Michigan, Guard
Senior – Toledo, Ohio/Rogers

Senior Sasha Dailey fueled the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team to a 2-0 mark in the first full week of Mid-American Conference play, Jan. 3-6. The Toledo, Ohio native averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game to lead the Eagles to wins over Bowling Green and Toledo. She poured in a season-high 20 points in EMU's 70-57 win over Toledo, Jan. 6, becoming the 22nd player in EMU history to join the 1,000-point club. Dailey's outstanding performances pushed EMU's win total to six, matching their overall mark from a season ago, and gave the Green and White back-to-back conference wins for the first time since 2016.
 
Cierra Dillard, Buffalo, Shooting Guard
Junior – Rochester, NY/Gates Chili

Junior Cierra Dillard had a huge week for the Bulls as they were able to go 1-1 with a win over Western Michigan at home on Wednesday. Dillard finished the weekend averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals as she led UB in scoring in both games. In the win over WMU on Wednesday, Dillard had a terrific game as she netted a game-high 23 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals as she went 9-for-13 from the floor and 3-for-4 from deep. The junior went on 7-0 and 10-2 personal runs in the second half to put the game away. On Saturday, Dillard started the game quiet but finished strong as she was able to connect on back-to-back triples in the final 30 seconds to send the game into overtime against Northern Illinois. Dillard finished the loss to the Huskies with a team-best 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. She has now notched 965 career points as she looks to join the 1,000-point club during her junior season.
 
Shaunay Edmonds, Akron, Point Guard
Sophomore – Pittsburgh, PA/Seton La Salle

The Zips point guard and facilitator turned in an all-around performance this week as Shaunay Edmonds averaged 11.0 points while dishing out 5.5 dimes per contest. Against Toledo, Edmonds scored a team-high 13 points, posted a game-high six assists, and ripped four steals. In Athens, Ohio, Edmonds pitched in five more assists, while scoring nine points.
 
Kendall McCoy, Miami, Forward
Junior – Sylvania, Ohio/Northview

Junior Kendall McCoy had a strong week in two games for the RedHawks. The forward averaged 15.5 points per game on 50 percent shooting (12-of-24) from the floor. She also chipped in 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. At Ball State on Wednesday, McCoy recorded 13 points to go with six rebounds in 24 minutes of action. On Saturday against Central Michigan, she tied her season-best with 18 points along with two steals and four rebounds. At 10.6 ppg overall, McCoy is the second-leading scorer on the team this season. Her 5.7 rpg ties for the team lead. McCoy has been one of Miami's most consistent players of late as she's scored in double figures in four straight games and seven of the last eight.
 
Kaayla McIntrye, Toledo, Center
Junior – Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy

Junior Kaayla McIntyre averaged a team-high 19.5 points, 9.0 caroms, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals in two games last week. McIntyre shot 56.0 percent (14-of-25) from the field and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the charity stripe in a squad-best 35.5 minutes per contest. One of two Rockets to score in double figures in both games, the Toledo native opened the week with 14 points, seven boards, a team-high four helpers and one theft in 34 minutes vs. Akron on Wednesday. Three days later against Eastern Michigan, she tallied a career-high 25 points, a contest-best 11 caroms and two rejections in a career-tying best 37 minutes to post her fourth double-double this year. Her previous-best effort was 21 points against Cleveland State on Dec. 9, 2017. Earlier this season, McIntyre also logged 37 minutes against Western Kentucky in first round of West Palm Invitational on Dec. 17.
 
Breanna Mobley, Western Michigan, Forward
Junior – Lansing, Mich./Lansing Waverly

Western Michigan’s Breanna Mobley played a major role for the Broncos last week, averaging 12.0 points and 8.5 rebounds, including seven offensive, on 9-of-19 shooting in two games. Despite the loss on Wednesday at Buffalo, Mobley led WMU with 12 points and six rebounds in 24 minutes. In the third quarter along, she scored six of the Broncos’ 12 points. On Saturday afternoon, Mobley notched her seventh double-double of the season on 12 points and 11 rebounds as the forward went 4-of-8 from the floor and recorded two blocks in 35 minutes to help WMU pick up the crucial 66-61 road victory. The Broncos improve to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
 
Moriah Monaco, Ball State, Forward
Senior – Dover, Ohio/Dover

Monaco helped the Cardinals improve to 13-1 on the season and 2-1 in Mid-American Conference action after averaging 17 points per contest during last week's competition while going 6-of-10 (.600) from behind the arc. The senior forward from Ohio led all players against the RedHawks on Wednesday night with a 20-point performance after going 3-for-5 (.600) from the 3-point line.  Monaco then capped the week off scoring 14 points in a win at Bowling Green Saturday.  Monaco has now scored in double figures for the Cardinals 67 times in her career. 
 
Caterrion Thompson, Bowling Green, Guard
Sophomore – Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior

Bowling Green sophomore guard Caterrion Thompson shot nearly 65 percent from three-point range and led the Falcons in scoring in both games last week. Thompson, who entered last week averaging 3.8 points per game on the season, averaged 19.5 points in last week's two contests. She shot 48.0% from the floor, and went 11-for-17 (64.7%) from three-point distance. She led the Falcons with 18 points, just one shy of her career-high, in the Eastern Michigan game, then scored a career-high 21 points against Ball State three days later. Thompson hit five three-pointers against EMU, and tied the Stroh Center record with a career-high six triples against BSU. She had a career-high 28 minutes played vs. the Eagles, then topped that total with 31 minutes vs. the Cardinals. In addition to the career-best point total vs. BSU, Thompson had a career-high four assists, and also pulled down a season-high six rebounds. On the year, Thompson is averaging 6.1 points per game, and is shooting 51.4% from long distance (18-of-35). She leads the Falcons in scoring in MAC games, with 15.7 ppg, and also paces the Falcons in field-goal percentage (50.0%; 14-for-28), three-pointers made (11) and three-point accuracy (61.1%; 11-for-18).
