MAC Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week
East Division
Lauren Dickerson, Miami, Guard
Sophomore – Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North
Sophomore Lauren Dickerson continues to put up monster numbers as she helped lead Miami to a pair of big conference wins this past week. On Wednesday at EMU, she put up 33 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and three steals en route to a 73-69 victory. On Saturday at home against Ohio, Dickerson went for 27 points with two rebounds, five assists and five steals. She averaged 30.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.0 apg and 4.0 apg for the week. Perhaps as impressive, she played 79 of a possible 80 total minutes. She also kept her double-figure scoring streak alive and now has 31 straight games of 10 or more points. The second-year player is nearing history as she currently sits at 954 career points.
West Division Co-Players
Danielle Minott, Eastern Michigan, Guard
R-Junior – Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day
Danielle Minott put together an impressive week for the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team, Jan. 24-27, highlighted by a record-breaking performance at MAC East-leading University at Buffalo. For the week, Minott averaged a whopping 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals for the Green and White, all while shooting 40 percent from the floor and 43.5 percent from three-point range. The Miami, Fla. native dropped 44 points on the University at Buffalo, breaking the previous program record of 42 held by Tavelyn James, recording the most points by a MAC player this season as well as the third-most in NCAA Division I women's basketball. Additionally, her eight three-pointers against the Bulls are the second-most in EMU history.
Courtney Woods, Northern Illinois, Forward/Guard
Junior – Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret’s Anglican
Courtney Woods averaged a double-double in two games last week scoring 27.0 points and hauling in 12.5 rebounds. Woods shot 21-of-37 (.568) from the field, including 8-of-15 (.533) from beyond the arc. The Huskie junior opened her week with a 17-point 10-rebound performance in a 77-75 setback at Ohio. At Ball State, Woods hauled in a career-best 15 rebounds and scored a game-high 37 points. It was her team-leading fifth double-double of the season and her fourth 30-point game of her career. The Aussie made a career best 14 field goals on 21 attempts, which also tied a career high. Half of her field goals versus the Cardinals were from three-point land as she went 7-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Mikaela Boyd, Toledo, Guard
Junior – Hillside, Ill./Proviso West
Junior Mikaela Boyd averaged a squad-tying best 17.5 points, a team-high 11.5 boards, a squad-best 5.5 helpers and 2.0 thefts in a pair of games last week. Boyd shot an efficient 50.0 percent (12-of-24) from the field and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the charity stripe in a team-high 36.0 minutes per contest. She was the only Rocket to score in double figures in both games and produced double-doubles in each contest. Boyd began the week with 19 points, a game-high 13 caroms, a contest-best five helpers and a game-tying high three steals in a contest-best 39 minutes against Kent State on Wednesday. Three days later against arch-rival Bowling Green, the 2016-17 third-team All-MAC honoree totaled 16 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and a contest-best six assists in a team-high 33 minutes. She has now produced double-doubles in seven of the last nine games.
Dominique Doseck, Ohio, Guard
Junior – Athens, Ohio/Athens
Junior Dominique Doseck helped lead the Bobcats this past week. Overall, she averaged 16.0 points per game, going 11-of-24 from the field, 8-of-18 from three-point range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. She averaged 4.0 rebounds a game, 1.0 assists per game, 2.0 steals per game, and only recorded two turnovers in total for both games in 33 minutes per game on the court. On Jan. 24 against NIU, Doseck scored 14 points and went 4-for-11 from the field and 4-of-10 from three-point range and hit both of her free throws. She also registered four rebounds, two assists and one steal in the 77-75 victory. On Jan. 27 Doseck led the team with 18 points, 11 of them in the first half, She went 7-of-13 from the field, 4-of-8 from three-point range and grabbed four rebounds, she also registered three steals in 37 minutes on the floor.
Micaela Kelly, Central Michigan, Guard
R-Freshman – Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King
Central Michigan was resilient last Saturday as the Chippewas posted a come-behind victory over in-state rival Western Michigan, 74-70, in McGuirk Arena. CMU improved to a 16-3 overall record with an 8-0 start in the Mid-American Conference. Redshirt freshman Micaela Kelly led the Chippewas with 19 points, five assists and four steals in 40 minutes of play. The Detroit native went 4-of-9 (44.4 percent) from the field and 10-of-11 (90.9 percent) from the free-throw line. Kelly has scored in double-figures the last four games. The redshirt freshman is averaging 11.0 points per game and ranks second on the team with 71 assists.
Jordan Korinek, Kent State, Forward
Senior – Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/St Vincent-St. Mary
Jordan Korinek recorded a pair of double-doubles to help Kent State split its games last week to close a rugged stretch with six of the first nine Mid-American Conference games on the road. Korinek posted 30 points and 13 rebounds, one off her career-high in both categories, to lead the Golden Flashes to its first victory at Toledo since 2007, ending the Rockets’ 15-game home winning streak. She matched her career-high by shooting 17-for-18 at the free throw line in the contest. Korinek added a game-high 22 points to go with 10 rebounds in Saturday’s rivalry game at Akron.
Moriah Monaco, Ball State, Forward
Senior – Dover, Ohio/Dover
Monaco averaged a double-double for the Cardinals last week with 26 points per game while pulling down 10 rebounds per contest. The senior forward from Dover, Ohio helped Ball State defeat Bowling Green (82-41) and Northern Illinois (81-72). Monaco led both teams in scoring with a 23-point performance while also pulling down 10 rebounds Wednesday against the Falcons. She then closed the week off posting a 29 point, 10 rebound performance to lead Ball State past Northern Illinois on Saturday. It was Monaco's second-straight double-double and fourth of the season. For the week, Monaco shot 45 percent from the field, she also knocked down 10 3-pointers had 20 rebounds and eight blocks. Monaco has now scored in double figures 72 times over her career and has moved up to eighth on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,418 points.
Cassie Oursler, Buffalo, Center
Senior – Grand Island, NY/Grand Island
Senior center Cassie Oursler had a huge game on Saturday afternoon to help propel the Bulls to the 97-92 overtime win over Eastern Michigan. With the win, UB improved to a program record 16-3 overall and 7-1 in MAC games. Oursler finished off her afternoon with a team-high 25 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and four blocks while going 8-for-16 from the floor and 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. The senior played a career-high 42 minutes while grabbing three offensive rebounds and scoring three buckets off of them. Oursler is having a career year for the Bulls as she is averaging 13.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks while shooting 48.2% from the floor on the year.
Destiny Perkins, Akron, Guard
Freshman – Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North
Freshman Destiny Perkins strung together her best back-to-back games in an Akron uniform this season helping the Zips to a 1-1 week, including their first Mid-American Conference victory over cross-town rivals, Kent State, scoring 17 points, pulling in six rebounds and ripping three steals per game. On Jan. 24, Perkins turned in a 15 point, four rebound, four steals, and one assist performance against Western Michigan. Three days later, Perkins continued to impress with an even better performance against the Golden Flashes. Perkins scored a team-high 19 points, the 5-6 point guard grabbed a career-high eight rebounds, dished out four assists and ripped a pair of steals. Perkins shot 50-percent from long distance in both contests and shot s combined 5-for-10, totaling 15 of her 34 total points, while also shooting 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.
Deja Wimby, Western Michigan, Guard
Junior – Fort Wayne, Ind./Snyder
Junior guard Deja Wimby continued her dominate play in conference season, averaging 11 points, six rebounds, 8.5 assists and four steals as Western Michigan went 1-1 last week. Wimby nearly missed out on WMU’s first triple-double in program history in the Broncos’ win at Akron. The guard poured in 13 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and five steals in 35 minutes. Just three days later Wimby had another overall solid game with nine points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals as Western Michigan nearly upset MAC West leader Central Michigan.
