Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: January 1st – January 8th
Kent State's Jordan Korinek, Basketball (Senior, Special Education, 4.00)
Jordan Korinek, who was named one of 30 candidates for the Women’s Basketball Senior CLASS Award® on Thursday, averaged 24.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in Kent State’s two conference contests to start 2018. Korinek was a perfect 15-for-15 at the free throw line and posted the 19th and 20th 20-point games of her collegiate career.

Akron's Matt Ludwig, Track & Field (Junior, Biomedical Engineering, 3.868)
The 2017 NCAA outdoor national champion in the men's pole vault, Akron’s Matt Ludwig bested former Zips All-American and three-time NCAA champion Shawn Barber in a jump-off at 17-8.50 (5.40m) to triumph in the men's competition with a winning mark of 17-6.50 (5.35m) at the Akron Pole Vault Convention on Jan. 6. Barber came into the event having won the elite title at the Akron Pole Vault Convention in each the last three years. His winning mark is the third-best jump in the NCAA this season and 12th-highest in the world in 2018
