MAC Announces 2017-2018 Inaugural Academic Leadership Development Program Fellows
Cleveland, Ohio- Thirty-six faculty and administrators from Mid-American Conference (MAC) institutions have been selected as the 2017-2018 MAC Academic Leadership Development Program fellows in its inaugural year.
The MAC Academic Leadership Development Program (ALDP) is a professional development program that aims to identify a select group of faculty and administrators in an effort to develop, prepare, and enhance their ability to be effective academic leaders. ALDP will feature opportunities for faculty and leadership to work together and is highlighted by two workshops.
This year’s workshops will be held November 6-8, 2017 at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and February 19-21, 2018 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
“Our MAC schools share a fierce commitment to academic success, research excellence, and community service,” said Todd Diacon, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Kent State University. “The MAC-ALDP will train the future leadership of our member institutions so that we can expand and continue this shared commitment to academic excellence, administrative effectiveness, and higher educational leadership.”
"Through the thoughtful and collaborative efforts of our provosts, other institutional leaders, and Conference staff this professional development opportunity has launched and should provide tremendous value to the participants and the membership," said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher. "This will be an excellent tool to enhance the growth and development of future leaders in higher education and is another way in which the MAC can provide value to its membership beyond intercollegiate athletics."
