Brett Perry, Buffalo—Junior, East Fishkill, N.Y.
Buffalo junior Brett Perry went 2-0 on the week with wins against Michigan State and Kent State. On Friday, Perry earned a 5-3 decision over Shwan Shadaia. On Sunday, trailing 4-0 after the first period, Perry rallied to earn a major decision over Kent State’s Colin McCracken. Perry posted eight points in overtime to earn a 16-8 major decision. His major was big because it cut the Buffalo deficit to 15-13. The Bulls won the final match to take the dual, 16-15.

Mason Smith, Central Michigan—Sophomore, Clio, Mich.
Central Michigan sophomore Mason Smith went 2-0 in duals against South Dakota State and North Dakota State over the weekend. His win against North Dakota State’s Sam Hampton came on a pin at 4:14. It was Smith’s third pin of the season, all of which have come in his last eight matches. Smith, who is ranked 20th by InterMat.com, is 15-3 on the year.
Kayne MacCallum, Eastern Michigan—Junior, Glen Oaks, Ill. (Libertyville High School)
Eastern Michigan junior Kayne MacCallum had a pin in his only match of the week in a 29-13 dual victory over Cleveland State, Dec. 8. MacCallum, who usually wrestles at 184 lbs., moved up a weight class due to injury of the usual 197 lbs. starter, and did not miss a beat, pinning his opponent in the second period. His pin started a run of five straight wins for the Eagles as they knocked off the Vikings by 16.
