Miami's Dickerson and UT's McIntyre Named Women's Basketball Players of the Week

East Division
Lauren Dickerson, Miami, Guard
Sophomore – Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North

Sophomore guard Lauren Dickerson had one of the best weeks of her young but already-decorated career. She began the week with a masterful performance at IUPUI, leading Miami to a 16-point second-half comeback behind the power of a career-high 42 points on 13-of-26 shooting. Nine of those field goals came from three-point land, tying a program-high for a single game. Her 42 points was the third-highest in a single game in program history. She also posted five assists, five rebounds and three steals in 43 minutes played. In a low-scoring affair on Saturday at home against Jacksonville State, Dickerson put together a more modest stat line, recording 10 points, eight assists, three rebounds and two steals. In all, the Indianapolis, Ind. native helped the RedHawks to a 2-0 record while averaging 26 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.5 apg and 2.5 spg.
  
West Division
Kaayla McIntyre, Toledo, Center
Junior – Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy

Junior Kaayla McIntyre led the Rockets in points (16.3 ppg), rebounds (9.3 rpg) and blocks (1.7 bpg) in three games last week. McIntyre also contributed 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals in a squad-best 30.3 minutes, helping UT win two of the three contests. The Toledo native led the Midnight Blue & Gold in scoring in each game, shooting an efficient 58.3 percent (21-of-36) from the field and 58.3 percent (7-of-13) from the charity stripe. She opened the week with 14 points, a career-tying best 13 caroms and a game-high three rejections at St. Bonaventure on Monday. Two days later against Duquesne, McIntyre totaled 14 points, seven caroms and a season-high three thefts in 32 minutes. The 2015-16 MAC Sixth Player of the Year finished off the week with a career-high 21 points, a contest-best eight boards and three dimes vs. Cleveland State on Saturday. McIntyre triggered the game-changing 13-0 burst against the Vikings, tallying six of her 21 points to turn a 29-27 halftime deficit into a 40-29 third-period lead. It proved to be an advantage McIntyre and the Rockets would not relinquish.     
 
 
Other Nominees:

Amani Burke, Ohio, Guard
Sophomore – Columbus, Ohio/Eastmoor Academy

Sophomore guard Amani Burke led the Bobcats offensively this past week, helping Ohio go 1-1 on the week, while defeating Purdue on Dec. 10. Overall, Burke averaged 17.5 points a game, going 12-of-33 (.363) from the field and 7-of-11 (.636) from the free throw line. Burke also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 0.5 assists and o.5 blocks per game in 29.5 minutes on the floor. On Dec. 6 at Cleveland State, Burke scored 18 points, going 7-of-21 from the field, 1-of-11 from three-point range and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. She also grabbed three rebounds and had two steals. Then on Dec. 10 at Purdue, Burke was strong again, leading the team with 17 points and grabbing four boards in Ohio's 77-71 win over the Boilermakers. Burke was 5-of-12 from the field, 3-of-4 from three-pointt range and 4-of-7 from the free throw line. She also had one assist and one block in 27 minutes on the floor. The win against Purdue was the first time since 1994 that Ohio won on a Big 10 court and the first time since 1982 that Ohio defeated Purdue.
 
Sasha Dailey, Eastern Michigan, Guard
Senior – Toledo, Ohio/Rogers

Senior Sasha Dailey turned in two of her best performances of the season to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team as it continued the longest road trip in NCAA Division I women's basketball, Dec. 8-10. Dailey dropped a season-high 18 points against Illinois Chicago, Dec. 8, to go along with a season-best four assists and four steals. Dailey led a stout defensive effort by the Eagles who notched a season-high 18 steals and forced UIC into 24 turnovers. In EMU's second game of the weekend, Dailey once again led the scoring, this time netting 16 points and three steals. The Toledo, Ohio native was efficient, shooting 46.4 percent from the field and a blistering 55.6 percent from beyond the arc. Her strong performances bumped her per game average up more than two points per game, while she ranks inside the nation’s top-50 in steals.
 
Shaunay Edmonds, Akron, Guard
Sophomore – Pittsburgh, PA/Seton LaSalle

Shaunay Edmonds led a balanced attack for the Zips that started at the point guard position. The Zips' sophomore is a dual threat while on the court having a hand in 25 scoring chances for the Zips. Edmonds put on a show in the scoring column with 32 total points, 16.0 points per game, while also facilitating to her teammates and assisting on 13 other baskets for the Zips.  Against Youngstown State, Edmonds scored a season-high 19 points, dished out seven dimes, and ripped a season-best four steals on the defensive end. Edmonds also nailed a career-high four three-pointers against the Penguins. When going up against the top team in the A10 conference, Duquesne, Edmonds continued her strong play with 13 points, six assists, and a steal.
 
Presley Hudson, Central Michigan, Guard
Junior – Wayland, Mich./Wayland Union

Central Michigan extended its win streak to eight games after posting a 2-0 record last week. The Chippewas defeated SIUE, 96-54, on Thursday, Dec. 7 and topped Indiana State, 77-67, on Dec. 9. Once again, junior Presley Hudson led CMU averaging 17.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds between the two contests. Hudson went 10-of-26 (.385%) from the floor and 8-of-19 (.421%) from beyond the arc. The Wayland, Mich. native also posted an 87.5 free throw percentage (7-of-8). At SIUE, Hudson scored nine points, grabbed five boards and dished out five assists in 33 minutes of play. Two days later, she posted a team-high 26 points, including six 3-pointers, to go along with six assists, four rebounds and three steals in 40 minutes. Hudson made a team-high six free throws (6-of-6) versus the Sycamores, which helped the Chippewas to a perfect game (18-of-18). It was the fourth time in program history that CMU has finished 100 percent at the line. Hudson leads the team averaging 20.8 points per game and is shooting 44.0 percent (55-of-125) from the floor. She ranks second in the NCAA and leads the MAC averaging 4.6 triples a game.
 
Jordan Korinek, Kent State, Forward
Senior – Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary

Jordan Korinek averaged 14.0 points per game to help Kent State go 1-2 on the week. Korinek also hauled in 7.0 rebounds per game as the Golden Flashes were +5.7 rebounds per game over the three weeks. Her best game was a 22-point, 8-rebound effort Thursday against Wright State. Korinek outscored #24/21 Michigan in the first quarter, 7-5, on Sunday and finished with 10 points and a game-high 8 rebounds.
 
Breanna Mobley, Western Michigan, Forward
Junior – Lansing, Mich./Lansing Waverly

Junior forward Breanna Mobley recorded her 23rd double-double and fourth of the season on Friday evening as the Broncos topped Detroit Mercy, 74-62. Mobley was key for WMU, pouring in 21 points and 10 rebounds in just three quarters of play highlighted by nine of the game-high points in the second quarter. She shot 61.5 percent from the floor going 8-for-13 while knocking down all five of her free throws to help the Broncos improve to 5-5 overall.
 
Cassie Oursler, Buffalo, Center
Senior – Grand Island, NY/Grand Island

Senior center Cassie Oursler had her best week of the season for the Bulls this week as she led UB in scoring in both victories to improve the Bulls record to 7-1 on the season. Oursler was able to average 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists across 29.5 minutes while shooting 58.6% from the floor. In Thursday's win over Big 4 foe Canisius, Oursler was very effective over her 21 minutes of work as she netted a team-best 14 points on 6-for-11 from the floor while adding two rebounds and two assists in the 26-point win. On Saturday in Columbia, Oursler had her best game of her career as she was able to notch her third career double-double as she scored a career-best 26 points and ripped down 11 rebounds. The senior went 11-for-18 from the floor while eight of her 11 rebounds were offensive rebounds across a career-high 38 minutes of work. Oursler is hitting her stride as over the last three games she is averaging 18.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists across 29.3 minutes, the best stretch of her collegiate career.
 
Courtney Woods, Northern Illinois, Forward
Junior – Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret’s Anglican School

Courtney Woods became the 23rd Huskie to reach the 1,000-point mark when the NIU junior scored 22 points in an 80-71 victory over Loyola on Education Day last week. It was the junior's third 20-point performance of the season as she went 7-of-21 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free throw line against the Ramblers. Woods just missed a double-double as she also hauled in nine rebounds. The Huskies' leading scorer, Woods is averaging 19 points a game this season.
