EMU's Gavigan Named Women's Swimmer of the Week
Casey Gavigan, Eastern Michigan, Sophomore

In an exciting victory over defending Mid-American Conference champions, University of Akron, sophomore Casey Gavigan paced the Eagles with a sweep in the backstroke events and contributing to a third place medley relay finish, bringing in a meet-high 18 points. Starting the meet off with the fastest 50 backstroke split in the 200 medley relay, Gavigan used a pair of season-best times in the back events to rack in a pair of first-place finishes. In the 100 back, she clocked in at 55.39 for the top-finish, before leading an Eastern 1-2 punch in the 200 back, touching in at 2:01.48.

Sophomore Rachel Bertram was a bright spot for the Cardinals against Toledo and Oakland with two first place finishes. Bertram earned first place overall in both the 1 and 3-meter dives. Bertram earned nine points with her score of 243.45 in the 1-meter board. Bertram qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones with her season best score of 292.65 in the 3-meter.
Pei Lin, Miami, R-Senior

Pei Lin had another remarkable showing, sweeping the diving competitions as Miami beat Bowling Green 215-85. In the 3 mtr, Lin scored 362.85, more than 40 points ahead of the second place finisher. In the 1 mtr, Lin scored 330.52, more than 30 points ahead of the second place finisher. This is her second straight meet of sweeping the diving competitions this season.
Kelly Moran, Buffalo, Senior

Senior diver Kelly Moran continued her strong start to her final season for the Bulls on Saturday as she helped UB claim their second straight MAC meet victory, downing Ohio 169-131. Moran opened her day with a victory in the 3-meter dive as she was able to collect a score of 284.40 and earn nine points for her team. Moran backed that performance up with another victory in the 1-meter dive as she collected a score of 274.80. Moran is now undefeated in MAC play in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Buffalo is now 2-0 in the MAC for the first time since 2012-13.

Hannah Schlegel, Ohio, Freshman

Freshman Hannah Schlegel (Birdsboro, Pa.) helped the Ohio swimming and diving battle Buffalo this weekend (Nov. 4) where the Bobcats fell 161-139. The Bobcats recorded wins in eight events and Schlegel added two wins and a third place finish in the afternoon. The freshman started the meet in the 1000-yard freestyle where she won the win with a final time of 10:06.54 which was almost 9 seconds faster than the second place finisher. In her next event, the 500-yard freestyle, Schlegel added another win touching the wall in 4:57.71. The freshman finished the afternoon in the 400-yard IM where she clocked in a time of 4:30.62 to take third place.
