Mid-American Conference

 
CLEVELAND, Ohio -  The Mid-American Conference announced Friday the 2017 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team. A total of 75 student-athletes were named to this year’s squad.
 
Akron, Bowling Green, Miami and Toledo each placed eight student-athletes on the 2017 team. Akron, Ball State and Kent State followed close behind with seven and Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and NIU all have six receiving honors.
 
Akron's Ashley Richardson (sport management), Ball State’s Kate Avila (speech language pathology), BG’s Victoria Iacobelli (undecided), Central Michigan’s Megan Kern (biology/pre-med), Miami’s Katie Tomasic (finance) and Ohio’s Meredith Howe (nursing) all finished the season with perfect 4.0 grade point averages.
 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
