CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced Friday that Bowling Green State University Head Coach, Danijela Tomic, has been named the 2017 MAC Volleyball Coach of the Year as voted on by her peers.

This is the first time Tomic has been voted the top coach in the MAC since taking over the Bowling Green program in 2012. In her six seasons with the Falcons, Tomic has compiled a 53-43 conference record (88-90 overall).

This season, Tomic’s squad clinched a share of both the MAC East Division title and Regular Season, finishing tied for first with a 13-3 record.

As the No. 2 seed in the 2017 MAC Volleyball Championship, BGSU received a bye to the semifinals. The Falcons hit the court Saturday, November 18th at 7:00 pm EST taking on the winner of Friday’s quarterfinal match between No. 3 Ball State and No. 6 Western Michigan.

The honor wraps up a strong year of accolades for the Falcon’s volleyball program. On Wednesday, junior libero Kallie Seimet was selected as MAC Player of the Year and MAC Defensive Player of the Year. Seimet was also placed on the All-MAC First Team. Sophomore setter Isabelle Marciniak and senior outside hitter Nicole Slimko were recognized as Honorable Mention All-MAC. Middle blocker Katie Kidwell rounds out the honors for the Falcons, as she was named to the 2017 All-Freshman Team.
