In his first career start Western Michigan redshirt junior goalkeeper Elijah Michaels recorded a shutout to help lead the Broncos to a 1-0 shutout against Akron in the MAC opener. It was also Michael's first career complete game in goal. He made four saves in the first half and stopped one in the second for a career-high five saves. The win improved No. 12 ranked WMU to 10-2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the MAC. It was just the third regular season win against Akron in school history and the first over the Zips since 2014.

Jorge Gonzalez has been integral to SIUE's recent success. The sophomore transfer scored both of the Cougars' goals in a 2-0 win over Milwaukee Tuesday which snapped a three-game losing streak for the team. Saturday, Gonzalez picked up an assist on SIUE's third goal, helping to cement a 3-1 win over Bowling Green in the Cougars' inaugural game in the MAC.
